Holtz retains Scottish 9 Ball Provisional No.1 spot
Scottish American Pool Players Association S.A.P.P.A. www.scottish9ball.com Download the latest SAPPA Tour Rankings (GIANT 800Kb .xls file) Download the SAPPA Calendar (Small 25Kb .xls file)
27 November 2007

Download the latest provisional rankings and results from this weekend's SAPPA ranking tournament in Edinburgh (Ev4) along with this full year's SAPPA results. It was another fantastic turnout with 83 players attending and it's just showing the growing popularity of the sport within Scotland. Due to a lack of 9ft tables in the venue (only 8x Brunswick Metro's), the tournament never got finished in time with the final match between Scott Ross and Davy Jack outstanding. This will hopefully be played at the next event in December.
It was great to see so many new players (including some ladies) at this event and in particular the performances of Dawud Quadir from Glasgow (qtr-finals), Poitr Ostrowski from Fraserburgh (last 16) and Elaine Campbell (33rd) should be applauded in such a strong field. "Read More..." for the Top 16

The Pressure Room perform another great Central London gig tonight!
The Pressure Room featuring Rico Diks LIVE - On stage The Metro Club 19-23 Oxford St, London W1D 2DN Tel: 020 7437 0964 Tube: Tottenham Court Road Tube (Opposite Virgin Megastore) www.blowupmetro.com www.myspace.com/thepressureroom
20.30pm Friday 23 November 2007
You are hereby summoned/cordially invited... To watch a roof come off!!!
The Metro is a small basement venue on Oxford Street that hosts a great line-up of up-and-coming bands almost every night of the week, the central location making it one of the best places to catch "The Pressure Room" in action with Rico Diks showing some serious talent as lead singer and front man.
The Pressure Room's gigs are always a friendly, cosy affair and I always prefer their live performance to compressed sterile sound on MySpace, and we're in for a special treat as the band debut a new fifth member - Anna Dahlin on piano. More and more pool player's have been making an appearance in the audience for these gigs, so mark it in your diary and have a night out on the town with the rest of us.

Episode 6 - CREATING ANOTHER THRILLA - By Ted Lerner
The World Pool Championship Araneta Coliseum Quezon City Metro Manila Philippines www.matchroomsport.com www.hey-joe.net www.tedlerner.com www.hiltonprofessionalcues.com
3-11 November 2007
CREATING ANOTHER THRILLA The inside story of how pool officials have tried to save the 2007 World Pool Championship from the plague of soft breaks, just in time for Sunday’s finale.
By Ted Lerner
Manila, Philippines -- At just about 10:30 pm this past Friday, Johan Ruijsink, the Dutch national pool coach and coach of the European Mosconi Cup team was walking up and down the concourse of the Araneta Coliseum looking for Roberto Gomez. It was about an hour before the start of Gomez’ round of 16 match against Ruijsink’s player Niels Feijen, which was to take place on the main TV table.
Why, you may ask, would the coach of Feijen want to speak with Gomez? Well, Ruijsink had a plan. He was sick of the soft break, which everyone, especially Gomez, was using with major success on table one. He felt it was making the game way too predictable, repetitive and terminally boring.
“This kind of pool is no good,” Ruijsink said. “It’s not good for the game. If this was the way the game was played when I first discovered pool, I would have never taken up the sport. I would have played chess instead. It’s boring.”
