Belfast Venue Stages All Ireland 9-Ball and U21 9Ball Pool Championships
This weekend (Saturday 28th July 2007) will see Frames Snooker and Pool Club in Donegal Street, Belfast City Centre, the venue once again for the 5th annual staging of the 2007 Cupid Cars All Ireland Open 9Ball Championship and Avalon Print All Ireland Under-21 9Ball Pool Championships. Cue-sport players both amateur and professional from all over Ireland and overseas will make their way to the Belfast venue for the biggest and most prestigious pool event on the Emerald Isle.

New Format For 2007 World Pool Championship
MATCHROOM Sport can announce they will be changing the format for the opening round of the 2007 Philippines World Pool Championship.
Double elimination play will be introduced for the first time in the nine years that the UK-based sports promotion company has been promoting the event.
Once again there will be 128 players competing in the tournament, which will be held in Manila from November 3 to November 11, and everyone will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of 2006 winner Ronnie Alcano.
However, the old round-robin format has been replaced by a first round consisting of 16 groups of eight players, which will split the field from 128 to 64 competitors before the single-elimination knock-out phase.
The eight players in each group will play a total of 10 matches between them. Two successive wins will see them into the last 64 while two straight defeats will see them eliminated from the tournament.

Blomdahl is King of Pool & Billiards in Korea
Seoul, Korea- Torbjorn Blomdahl of Sweden, the current #1 ranked 3-Cushion player in the world, defeated Korea's #1 Young Hwa Jeong in a contest of carom and pocket billiards. The two champions played a set of 3-Cushion, 9-Ball, and 8-Ball on live TV with MBC ESPN at Korea's largest amusement park Lotte World.
"Blomdahl is the world's best at 3-Cushion, but I know he plays 9-Ball well too. It won't be easy for me." admitted Korea's Champion Jeong.

Top quality pool at the final stages of this tournament but when the dust settled the headlines had Niels Feijen's name on them as he won this Groningen event for the third time.
Niels played well throughout the tournament, reported tournament director Gerrie Delger, beating Huidji See in the semi-finals 9:1, and then Nick van den Berg in the final with a 10:5 scoreline. (Incidentally, if van den Berg had won the final instead, it would have been his third consecutive win at this event!)
