2007 World 14.1 Straight Pool Championship Updates
Germany's Oliver Ortmann has beaten Huidji See from the Netherlands by a score of 200 to 171 in the final of The Predator World 14.1 Straight Pool Championships.
Only 19 European's entered the event, compared to the 39 Americans in this 64 player field, but by the Last 16 Stage only 4 US players remained, compared to an incredible 10 super-star Euros.

East Brunswick,NJ - Oliver Ortmann has done almost everything you can do in the game with European titles galore, US Open Straight Pool titles, and even a World 9-Ball crown. Almost. And today he has fulfilled a full circle of dreams by conquering the field in the most grueling test of straight pool in history.
The day began with Huidji See matched up again with Austria's Martin Kempter. See demolished Kempter in the round of 32 and the second time would be the same as See cruised through Kempter like a hot knife 200-41.

Tour Announcement
If you have been to recent BPPPA main tour events or read the threads on the forums at www.pro9.co.uk you may be aware that there has been a lot of work taking place recently behind the scenes to look at ways to improve our game and take the current 9 ball tour to a new level.
I am delighted to announce we now have firm plans to replace the current BPPPA tour with an exciting new 9 ball tour from next season to be known as the GB 9 Ball Tour (GB9BT). This tour will be very different from the current tour and will be run independently as a separate entity from the BPPPA. To date our proposals have the full support of the BPPPA main council and we are nearing the final stages of negotiations, which should be complete by the end of the month.

2007 World 14.1 Straight Pool Championship Updates
East Brunswick ,NJ- The non-stop straight pool continued today with all the players fighting hard to stay alive or gain pole position for the final 32 player board. Dennis Orcullo and Warren Kiamco are keeping Filipino hopes strong with a 5-0 win record and 4-1 respectively. Unknown USA Ed Hodan is surprising fans with his solid play keeping him the leader in Group 4 with the likes of names like Souquet and Moore.
One of the anticipated matches of the evening was Jasmin Ouschan versus Allen Hopkins. Both players complete opposites in almost every aspect including age, sex, country, and stroke style. Last year's World 14.1 Championship had the two players playing in the round robin with Hopkins coming out on top 100- 52. This year Ouschan sought her revenge with a 52 ball run and out to win 100-59 against the former World 14.1 Champion. Hopkins showed exemplary class and clapped at the end of her run when she closed the match.

McLoughlin wins a chance of a lifetime with US Open opportunity!
Despite being the number one ranked player in Ireland, with several TV appearances under his belt, and invites to international events like MatchroomSports World Cup of Pool, Paddy McLoughlin has financed himself around Europe with little or no sponsorship.
Now though, he is starting to reap the benefits of his single-minded determination thanks to an incredible win at the Scottish American Pool Player Association's US Open Qualifier in Glasgow.
McLoughlin caught a flight to Glasgow, paid his £35 entry fee, and after tearing through the field of 67 runners, "The Ginger Magician" earned his flight, hotel, $500 entry fee, and expenses to the US Open 9-Ball Championships in Chesapeake, Virginia - without doubt the most prestigious annual event on the United State's pool tournament circuit.
Obviously Paddy is delighted with the win, and said, "Yeah, I'm over the moon. It's a dream come true to play in the US Open. I would never be able to finance a trip to the US Open so having these qualifiers are brilliant, and there definitely should be more qualifiers, maybe for the Euro Tour and World Championships and so on."

Rico Dik's new band "The Pressure Room" will be performing at The Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, and I'll definitely be going again after seeing them play at Leonard's last month I was very impressed with their live performance.
There will be 4 or 5 bands playing on Tuesday night, but there's no guaranteed audience waiting to support these acts, each band does their damnedest to attract 25 or more guests and that way each of the bands gets exposure to a bigger audience, so it's down to us to show some support here... I guarantee you won't be disappointed - The Pressure Room REALLY ROCK!!!
