Marcus Chamat named as Euro captain
SWEDEN’S MARCUS CHAMAT, a six-time Mosconi Cup veteran, will take the helm for Team Europe when the 2015 event takes place at the Tropicana in Las Vegas in December. The 39 year-old Swede was the life and soul of the team when Europe won for only the second time in 2002 and has an overall record of 11 victories from 26 Mosconi Cup matches played .
Chamat, who carries the nickname ‘Napoleon’, takes over the job from Johan Ruijsink who retired from the position undefeated through seven Mosconi Cups.
“It will be tough to follow in the footsteps of Johan and all that he did with the European team, but to be the captain of the best team in the world is really a great opportunity for anyone,” said Chamat.

Southern wins the first event of the 2015 BWPPA season
The BWPPA began the 2015 season on the 21st/22nd March 2015 with the GNO Southern 9-ball Open held at the newly opened BWPPA/BWCSA Wheelchair Cue Sport Academy at Stoke Mandeville, this event is named after the main tour sponsor the Gentleman’s Night Out charity.
We had a solid turn out, including Aleksandr Prokopiev who again made the long trip from Russia. We welcomed a new player to the tour, Mall Johnson.
The tour got off to a great start with some excellent pool on show as usual at these events. Fred Dinsmore was keen to add to his 3 successive victories at the end of the 2014 season, which enabled him to take a clear lead at the top of the rankings.
In the players meeting before play commenced Dinsmore and Daniel Lee were jointly awarded the honour of being the 2014 players player of the season. Also at the meeting, each player was presented with a gift pack from our generous sponsors at Kamui, comprising of 4 tips, 2 chalks and chalk holders, many many thanks to all at Kamui. We were also proud to inform the players of our newly acquired sponsor Aramith Balls. They have very kindly donated 8 sets of Pro TV balls to the tour. With the tables all covered in Simonis Cloths and a brand new set of balls on each table we really did offer professional playing conditions this weekend.

Betfred World Championship Qualifiers Draw
The draw for the qualifying rounds of the Betfred World Snooker Championship has been made, with all players seeded outside the top 16 set to battle for places at the Crucible.
The qualifiers start this Wednesday ( April 8 ) at Pond's Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.
In a change to the usual format, the concluding session of all 16 final round matches will be played on the last day, Wednesday April 15. The 16 winners on 'Judgement Day' will earn a coveted spot in the final stages, to run from April 18 to May 4 at the Crucible Theatre.
All 128 players in action at Pond's Forge must win three best-of-19 frame matches to progress.
Ten-time World Ladies champion Reanne Evans, aiming to become the first woman to play at the Crucible, has been drawn against 1997 World Champion Ken Doherty on Thursday April 9.
Six-time World Champion Steve Davis is up against Jamie Cope on Friday.

T9B players are going on tour to Holland for The Deurne City Classic
Saturday 28th March saw Total9ball fever ramp up again as the first ever qualifier took place in the UK for the Deurne City Classic. The DCC is by all accounts a brilliant event held annually in Holland, played on 28 recovered tables with in excess of 500 players from around the world competing. There is so much going on with 9ball, 10ball, Banks, One pocket, Ring games and cash games galore to name a few. T9B took the opportunity to contact the organisers in the Netherlands and agreed to help promote this event via a UK qualifier, where players could win sponsorship money towards attending this nonstop European pool festival.
Total9ball were very pleased with a turnout of 26 players all looking to make sure it was their name booked on the flight tickets to Eindhoven at the end of May. T9B decided to use the league stage format with each player competing in three league fixtures with 15 players advancing to the knock-out stage. Now why 15 player you ask? T9B calculated the money and announced we could send 5 players plus the winner of our side event the one rack shootout. This would mean the top 5 players after 3 matches would be seeded into the final qualifying round while the next 10 ranked players would have a playoff to reach the final qualifying match.

FOLLOWING A SELL-OUT event last year, tickets for the 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup will be on sale from Thursday 26th March. Taking place from Monday December 7 to Thursday December 10, the Europe v USA showdown is hosted for the first time at The New Tropicana Las Vegas.
The defending champions are Team Europe who won their fifth consecutive title in Blackpool, England in December 2014. Now making its seventh appearance in Las Vegas, the Mosconi Cup is pool’s biggest brand and it features two five-man teams competing in a series of singles and doubles matches over the four days.
Last year, the Mosconi Cup sold out all 4,000 tickets within days of going on sale and Matchroom Sport chairman Barry Hearn believes that fans will have to move fast to snap up the tickets;
“Since the Mosconi Cup ended on December 4th, we’ve had a never-ending stream of enquiries as to when tickets would be available for MC XXII and now that day has arrived.
“The Americans badly need a win following the Europeans’ success over the past five years and one thing that will surely lift the team will be huge support at The New Tropicana Las Vegas.

Annual Europe v USA showdown set for Tropicana
THE NEW TROPICANA LAS VEGAS, arguably one of the most iconic brands on the Las Vegas Strip, will play host to the 22nd annual PartyPoker Mosconi Cup, which takes place from Monday December 7 to Thursday December 10.
Now making its seventh appearance in Las Vegas, the Mosconi Cup is pool’s biggest brand. Known as the ‘Ryder Cup of Pool’, it features two five-man teams representing the USA and Europe competing in a series of singles and doubles matches.
Televised throughout, the event is aired live in the UK and Ireland, Australia, the Middle East and the USA. In addition highlights packages will be aired in the likes of Holland, Italy, Canada and Germany, among others.
