Day - 1 / Lee Brett vs Daniel Busch!
Famed pool coach and former 'Bonus Ball' referee, Lee Brett has agreed to compete against Daniel Busch of POV Pool in a 9-Ball battle for a 'winner take all' purse of $2,000. It'll be a fast and loose race of the best of 59 games and will start at 5:oo pm Pacific Standard Time / 8:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. Commentators Jay Helfert and Beau Runningen will commentate the match and a referee has yet to be named for the event. Matches of this proportion in the U.S. are traditionally a casual affair but Point Of View Pool is mandating that players bring a touch of class to this event by competing in formal attire. It will be reminiscent of the old school of billiards and today's snooker competitions. Yes folks, vests and bow-ties will be required. Additional cameras and support staff are also being used to capture the drama for viewers.
Day - 2 / Dennis Hatch vs Carlo Biado!
Dennis Hatch, making a strong comeback in the pool-world as of late, he has competed in a handful of top independent events, such as the Crooks & Castles sponsored 'Hard Times 10-Ball' Tournament and recently played with Team USA in the 25th Annual Mosconi Cup Event in Las Vegas, Nevada. On Tuesday, February 18th, also at 5:00 pm PST, Dennis will be matching up with none other than the newest pool sensation from the Philippines, Carlo Biado in a grueling race to 25 games, playing 10-Ball - a 'call pocket' format 'rotation' game, which Carlo took the prize of 1st place in the aforementioned Crooks & Castles event.

Highlights from the 21st PartyPoker.com World Pool Masters will begin airing on Sky Sports in the UK from Wednesday, January 8.
The event saw a field of 16 of the best pool players in the world gather in Barnsley, South Yorkshire to contest one of the longest running invitational tournaments in the world and a $66,000 prize fund.
Taking place at the Barnsley Metrodome, the Masters featured 10 World Champions as well as winners of countless major international events around the world.
Legends such as Efren Reyes, making his first UK appearance since 2006, Mika Immonen, Ralf Souquet and Alex Pagulayan as well as ladies champ Ga Young Kim, were all in Barnsley in an attempt to win one of the most prestigious titles in pool.
The UK challenge came from a quartet of players who possess four World Championships between them as well as countless other major titles. Three of them – Darren Appleton, Daryl Peach and Chris Melling – come from Yorkshire, while Karl Boyes is from across the Pennines.
With a field of 16 players there are 15 matches in total – all races to eight racks and culminating in the final. There are 15 highlights shows – with each one showcasing a different match from the tournament.

Last weekend, the inaugural edition of the Longoni Capelle Open was held in Rotterdam (The Netherlands). The owners of the venue, Petra and Roy van Straalen, celebrated their 25th anniversary in the billiards business with this fantastic 10-ball event, as well as a 3-cushion Grand Prix. The latter was won by world Champion and Longoni ambassador Díck Jaspers. The Longoni Capelle Open counted no less than ‘147’ entries. A typical number, since Petra and Roy van Straalen contributed immensely to the growth of snooker in the Netherlands, with their five pool and renowned snooker halls. Participants from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and as far as France, Denmark and Sweden attended the event.

Just to remind everyone that 31 December is the deadline for applying to join the GB9 Pro Division next season. No applications will be accepted after that date. Please note that nobody deemed to be of a professional standard will be permitted in the Challenge division for 2014 so if you feel you might fall into this bracket I would urge you to apply or contact us NOW.
If you played ALL events in 2013 you will be entitled to receive a £20 loyalty discount off your annual membership for 2014. To take advantage of this discount you must fill in your application form and pay your deposit of £99 by 31 December. This is whether you intend to play in the Pro OR Challenge division.
Otherwise the deadline for applying to join the GB9 Challenge division is 31 January 2014.

Steinway Cafe and Billiards and Inside POOL TV are pleased to announce a legendary challenge match series between Efren Reyes and Earl Strickland will take place January 14-16, 2014 and is being hosted by Steinway Billiards in Astoria, NY. Specially priced tickets for the Pay-Per-View event are now on sale at InsidePOOL.TV.
The match series will feature three disciplines of pool; 8-ball, 9-ball and 10-ball with each day showcasing one style. The matches will all be races to 17 on a 10-foot table.

Event 3 Report
The day started with 7 races to 3. At the half way point, after about 3 matches, the fun games began.
"Speed Pool" first, with everyone burning their Xmas pud off before they've eaten it. Brian Cassidy beat Mark Parker in the final. So Brian took £25 and a cue towel.
Then it was the "One Rack Shootout" that Rattapol won. He picked up £15 and a t-shirt from Dynamic Billiards.
Finally it was back to the action, and after 7 matches, we saw Simon Widlo winning all 7, and there was a play off between Rattapol and Paul Choong to see who made 8th place. Then the draw was done for the double elimination. Rattapol was heading for the double but fell at the semis.
In the end Brian Cassidy took the £150 prize and T9B membership, beating Phil Wildman who took the £100 runners up prize. Nice to see some new faces from Mile End Snooker Club thanks to Pete Smith.

My name is Angel Levine and I am the director of the documentary "Raising the Hustler" our documentary on professional pool and billiards.
Growing up in Chicago’s most famous rooms with legends of the sport, I came to know most every professional player coming through to hone their skills. This has enabled me to film and capture ephemeral moments with champions both living and posthumous, on and off of the table.
We discuss the impact of Martin Scorsese's film "The Color of Money" which was shot in pool rooms around Chicago and it's predecessor "The Hustler". I draw comparisons between Golf and Pool and visit The FedEx Cup to interview the pro's on the course.
Professional Poker players David "Viffer" Peat, Jean-Robert Bellande, and Chris Gentile are featured as well as the greatest cueists in the world.
I started filming the aftermath following the collapse of late-night pitchman, Kevin Trudeau’s International Pool Tour and its subsequent attempts to revive interest in their professional pool tour. Professional poker players and celebrities make an appearance as well as Barry Hearn’s three Matchroom Sport pool events The Mosconi Cup The World Cup of Pool The World Pool Masters (U.S., U.K, Philippines). I have traveled to 7 countries to showcase the beauty, the people, the players and the problems facing pool's players and the industry.

Michaela Tabb Debuts as WPBL Referee
The World Professional Billiard League will begin airing matches never broadcast before on Sunday December 22, 2013. These matches were previously filmed November 2nd-9th at the WPBL Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and can be viewed for free at: www.WPBLtv.com.
When the WPBL resumed its season in November, a total of 18 matches were played in front of a live audience. These matches will air for free from December 22nd through January 28th 2014 and will conclude the WPBL’s regular season. Each match will be available to view for 48 hours before the next match becomes accessible. Once matches have been featured, they will move into an archived file which will still be available for fans to view for free via the WPBL website.
