Hes Back!
SIX YEARS after his last appearance in the PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup, EARL STRICKLAND is back! The 52 year-old veteran will make his 14th Mosconi Cup appearance at the Mirage, Las Vegas from 2 to 5 December as he joins Johnny Archer, Rodney Morris, Dennis Hatch and Shane Van Boening for the 20th anniversary edition of pools biggest event.
The Pearl has enjoyed and endured a love/hate relationship with the event ever since his winning debut in 1996, but his 65% win percentage over 13 Mosconi Cups is still a record for the competition. Strickland has been on the winning team on no less than nine occasions and following his recent win at Turning Stone, there is a popular feeling that he is playing as good as he ever has.
It is wonderful to have Earl back on the Mosconi Cup team this year. We all know that he brings fire and that intimidation factor to our team and the 20th Mosconi Cup would not be the same without Earl there, US captain Johnny Archer.

Mika makes five for Team Europe
MIKA IMMONEN, a three time PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup winner, will be going all out for title number four when he makes his 15th appearance in the annual Europe v America 9 ball battle at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas from 2nd to 5th December.
The New York-based Finn last played in 2010 when he was on the winning side in London and you would need to look all the way back to 1996 when he made his debut alongside the likes of Steve Davis and Ronnie OSullivan in a narrow 15-13 defeat.
Immonen is the only player ever to bag two MVP awards in Las Vegas in 2003 and Malta in 2008 - and he has a 53% win record over 70 matches played. He now joins Ralf Souquet, Darren Appleton, Karl Boyes and Niels Feijen in a side that has 42 Mosconi Cup appearances between them.
I'm absolutely proud to be joining Ralf, Darren, Niels and Karl and I think that is a pretty solid looking team, said Immonen.

So the Total9Ball Amateur Series is back with the 2013/14 edition and it looks better than ever. T9B this season added Dynamic Billiards to the ever growing list of sponsors who are offering Euro Tour places so the opportunity is there for players to not only compete at the beautiful Hurricane Room club in St Albans but perhaps in other locations around Europe this season.
28 players headed for St Albans yesterday for event one of the ten event series. Matches remained as a race to seven with all players being assigned a handicap ranging from -3 to +3. Each player who enters a T9B Amateur Series event gets entered into the draw twice and is therefore hoping to win all matches to meet themselves in the Final, if a player achieves this not only do they scoop the Winners and Runners up prize money but they will also receive the accumulated jackpot prize which increases at each event and currently stands at an impressive 150. Matches began at 10am and there seemed to be a tense atmosphere as each player was obviously hoping to start the season well and score some good early ranking points.
Richard Twomey (The Twominater) took the final T9B event of last season... The Masters which was an event of single elimination and races to 14. Richard looked completely at home during this event but could he produce the same form over this event with shorter races? Twomey completed round one without defeat but only by the skin of his teeth as Karim Moloo pushed him all the way only to ended up falling one rack short losing 7-6, Karim is a relatively new player to T9B events however he is looking better and better at each event he attends and Im sure it wont be long before Moloo gets to a Final of an event or even better wins one. Twomey had a bye in his other match so kept his two lives after round one.

Boyes Buzzing for Mosconi XX!
ENGLANDS KARL BOYES will make his second appearance in the PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup as he takes his place on Team Europe for the annual transatlantic pool battle at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas from 2nd to 5th December.
The 29 year-old former World 8 Ball champion becomes the fourth member of Team Europe and joins Ralf Souquet, Darren Appleton and Niels Feijen in the side, with one more player to be announced.
I am absolutely thrilled to be picked to represent Europe in this years Mosconi Cup. To represent Team Europe any year is very special but to be picked for the 20th anniversary is surreal, said Boyes.

Stellar line up for 21st annual Masters
THE 21st PartyPoker.com World Pool Masters will see a field of 16 of the best pool players in the world gather in Barnsley, South Yorkshire to contest one of the longest running invitational tournaments in the world and a $66,000 prize fund.
Taking place from 25th to 27th October at the Metrodome in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, the Masters will feature 10 World Champions as well as winners of countless major international events around the world.
Legends such as Efren Reyes, making his first UK appearance since 2006, Mika Immonen, Ralf Souquet and Alex Pagulayan as well as ladies champ Ga Young Kim, will all be in Barnsley in an attempt to win one of the most prestigious titles in pool.
The UK challenge will come from a quartet of players who possess four World Championships between them as well as countless other major titles. Three of them Darren Appleton, Daryl Peach and Chris Melling come from Yorkshire, while Karl Boyes is from across the Pennines. All four are sure to be well supported.

The England A pairing of Darren Appleton and Karl Boyes has been awarded the 888.com World Cup of Pools 2013 best dressed prize.
The pair collect $500 for having the best kit at York Hall last week. The prize is awarded each year to the duo whose strip is deemed the best of the 32 teams who take part in the 888.com World Cup of Pool.
The England A strip was a polo top inspired by the countrys Three Lions football strip. The quarter-finalists alternated between white and red polos, paying homage to the home and away kits of the national soccer team.
Appleton and Boyes each had their name printed along the collar and commemorated their appearance at York Hall by printing WCOP 2013 below the world-recognisable badge of the English football team.
Commented Matchroom Sport chairman Barry Hearn: Im delighted to be able to award Darren and Karl the best kit prize from this years 888.com World Cup of Pool.

The Hatchetman: Ill chop em up!
DENNIS HATCH, a Mosconi Cup MVP back in 2009, becomes the fourth member of the American team at this years PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup and will take his place alongside Johnny Archer, Shane Van Boening, Rodney Morris and an as yet unnamed final member when the USA and Europe do battle at the Mirage Hotel from 2nd to 5th December.
The 42 year-old from Buffalo, New York made his debut that year after he came out top in a wildly popular fans vote for the final place on the team. Once in Vegas, he became the Americans talisman as he won four out of his five matches to lead the team to an emotional victory.
It is an honour and a privilege to be part of this incredible USA team and the 20th anniversary Mosconi Cup. This event means the world to me and I live for the Cup. Its the best atmosphere there is and there is nothing that can even come close to comparing it to, said a fired up Hatchetman.

European Open Review 2013
Once again the great and the good of the pool world assembled at the Hilton hotel, this time in Warwick and with the European Open and Amateur crowns up for grabs in a season that has seen some high quality pool, and a mixture of different winners, implying everyone was in with a chance except me of course.
First things first and the line up once again included raiders from around the world of pool as word slowly gets out about the prestige of the IPA tour in comparison to its so called competitors, with stand out stars such as South African superstar Sandile Madlala and Frances darling Christophe Lambert lining up against the usual suspects in Gareth Potts, Craig Marsh, Adam Davis, Gareth Hibbott, Lee Clough etc while in the amateur ranks, Jon McAllister was looking for a pretty much unprecedented hat trick after winning at Bradford and Glasgow. With the tables in place and the new double elimination format giving everyone a second chance the stage was set for a contest worthy of its title and we werent going to be let down!
