Singh is King and Jazz is Champ!
What a fantastic event this was, 32 players rated at a -1 handicap or below travelled from many parts of the country to participate in the Total9Ball Rookie Search for a Star competition held at The Hurricane Room in St Albans. This competition was very different from others that T9B organise as the main prize was a 450 sponsorship deal for future T9B Amateur events. We restricted the handicaps for this event to a maximum of -1 thus creating a really open field and an unpredictable day full of excitement. The field of players was full of quality both old and new, it was great to see some faces from the past getting involved, Steve Evans and Steve Singh seemed to both really enjoy their day and we hope we will see them again soon. It was also great to have some English pool players swap the small balls for the big balls for the day with Lee McShane, Stuart Bond, and Terry Kearney in attendance.
Matches kicked off at 10am with each player knowing today could be their day to lift the beautiful glass trophy and become a Total9Ball champion. The format for the event was a 32 player league stage with each player competing in three randomly drawn matches, all results were put into one league table with the top 16 players advancing to the knock-out stages. A plate event was also organised - open to all unlucky losers from the league stage and the last 16 knockout.

English Open and English Amateur Championship
The English Open, English Amateur, and Pro Cup are being played this weekend (it starts today but really gets going tomorrow onwards).
Most of the best players in the World will be there including three time World Champion Gareth Potts as well as an International contingent of Mathieu Duprat, Claude Champeau, Nabil Laiyadi, Paul Coldrick and Yann Henrion (France) plus Wetsi Morake and Sandile Madlala (South Africa), and Ivan Lopez (Catalonia).
Matches will be shown on the live stream. while the full draw for all events with times is available via www.ipapool.com - the IPA Facebook page will be regularly updated during the weekend while I will be tweeting out results to @ipapool from tomorrow onwards.

Mirage named as 2013 venue
The MIRAGE HOTEL & CASINO, the first of the super resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, will play host to the 20th annual PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup which takes place from Monday 2nd to Thursday 5th December.
Following on from five stagings at the MGM Grand, the Mosconi Cup now moves just up the road to the Mirage, where promoters Matchroom Sport will be installing their 600 seat arena to produce the most intimidating atmosphere in pool.
Commented Matchroom Sport Chairman Barry Hearn, We are very excited to have the Mirage as our hosts for what will be a very special edition of the Mosconi Cup. Las Vegas has been our home and away venue for the past decade and were delighted to be staying in the city of lights this year.

Ten ball action in Leeds
An enjoyable five hour drive in the van, through a thousand shades of green offered by some of England's most wonderful countryside - and I arrive at the venue in blazing sunshine, and everything is perfect... The "get-in" is on the ground floor, so The Pro Shop's stock wheels directly into the room from the van, all my tables are ready, waiting for me, the hotel staff are smiling and then all the familiar faces start showing up.
Bliss!
It's the GB9 Northern Masters this weekend, and it's the game the pro's adore... Ten Ball is the name of the game, and nothing but the highest calibre.

Match 2 Las Vegas Dice vs. Houston Hustlers.
The Las Vegas Dice opened Friday's match with the Houston Hustlers with a convincing 30-12 win, setting the tone for a lopsided 12-2 victory at the WPBL arena in Las Vegas.
Joey Gray, an alternate for Houston who filled in for injured team captain Jeremy Jones, had a rough evening scratching twice during shoot out breaks.
One of Gray's miscues was after Charlie Williams of Las Vegas scored 13 straight points to overcome a deficit at the end of regulation to beat Gray and make the score 6-2 for Las Vegas with only 2 games remaining.

WITH the 21st annual running of the PartyPoker.com World Pool Masters taking place at the Metrodome in Barnsley from 25th to 27th October, Matchroom Sport can announce that tickets for the event are now on sale.
The Masters will be played over five sessions; 7.00pm Friday evening and then 1.00pm and 6.00pm on the Saturday and Sunday. There are three matches per session and all tickets are available from http://www.seetickets.com/tour/partypoker-com-world-pool-masters
Tickets are priced at a Ł10 for the evening sessions and Ł5 for the afternoon sessions. Both prices include a booking fee.
Stars such as reigning World 9 Ball champion Darren Appleton, two-time US Open champion Shane Van Boening, Mosconi Cup MVP Chris Melling, as well as defending champion Karol Skowerski have already indicated they will be competing in the Masters.*
With a field of 16 players there are 15 matches in total all race to eight racks and culminating in the final on the Sunday evening.
Commented Matchroom Sports Barry Hearn, Following on from the sell-out success of the Mosconi Cup in the UK last December, the Masters gives UK pool fans a golden chance to see some of the biggest names in the game from around the world.
We will be building a compact 500 seat arena within the Metrodome and with spectators right on top of the play, I hope British and European pool fans will come out to see some of the great names of pool.
There will be four UK players competing including local stars Darren Appleton and Chris Melling and Im sure they will be well supported throughout. Weve kept the tickets affordable and were looking forward to sell-out crowds in October.

Match 6 Las Vegas Dice vs. Toronto Blue Sharks.
The Weeks action concluded with The Las Vegas Dice taking on The Toronto Blue Sharks.
Game One was a back and forth battle for the most part until Toronto finally took advantage of a Las Vegas mistake with just under a minute remaining, They calmly ran the final 9 points of the game using every second of the game clock to finish the final ball and take a 30-19 regulation victory and 2-0 match lead.
Game two needed a shootout to decide the points. Davis and Williams trailed 21-9 going into the shootout but managed to secure a point for the team by running 21 straight off the break and shoot and reaching 30. Toronto then came to the table needing only 9 points to secure their own point in the match. Morra and Klatt made short work of those to make the match score 3-1 Toronto.
Game three was all Las Vegas as Schmidt and Davis broke and ran the first 15 points of the game and then won a safety battle with Klatt and Hjorleifson to finish off the Canadians with a 30-0 regulation victory and earn 3 points for their team. Score now 4-3 Las Vegas.

The GB 9 Ball Tour makes a welcome return to Yorkshire shortly as the 2013 Northern Masters 10-ball event is contested at the spectacular Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford.
The success of last years 10-ball event, where Daryl Peach achieved a remarkable comeback against Shaun Storry in winning the 2012 edition of this competition, has led to the GB9 team bringing back this increasingly popular code of pool. Not since November 2009 has there been a professional American pool event held in Yorkshire, with that years Northern Masters held at the former Rileys in Barnsley. Many would say this tournament is a long time coming and a lot of local players will surely be relishing the prospect of playing American pool on their doorstep. With two of the worlds best and most exciting players hailing from Yorkshire Keighleys Chris Melling and Pontefracts Darren Appleton its no wonder the area is home to some of the best talent Britain has to offer on the pool scene and its that which promises to make this competition the most exciting so far this season.
