Reanne compiles two century breaks winning world snooker championship final

The 27-year-old accounted for world number one Maria Catalano 6-3 in the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association’s (WLBSA) showpiece event at Cambridge Snooker Centre.

Reflecting on her remarkable record, Evans said: “Nobody ever dreams about doing things like that. I’m over the moon.”

“I play every tournament like it’s a fresh one otherwise there’s too much pressure. The pressure’s on me to lose it not for them to win it.”

It was the fourth time in five years that the friends from Dudley, West Midlands, had met in the world final.

Evans kicked off with a 100 clearance in the first frame and added a 60 and a 117 clearance straight after the mid-session interval to take a 5-2 lead.

Catalano, 30, still seeking a first world title, pulled one back with a run of 44 but Evans wrapped things up in the next.

“It’s good to have two centuries, especially in a final,” said the newly-crowned champion. “It’s good to bring it off the practice table because I do it all the time in practice.”

But she added: “It’s hard to get used to the tables because I’m not used to club tables any more.”

Many surprises in Portoroz at the Dynamic Billard European Pool Championships

In an intense battle, "The Maharaja" Imran Majid (GBR) defeated 10-ball World Champion Huidji See (NED) by a hair's breadth 8:7.

It looked like it would be Majid's match from the very beginning. He was leading 6:3 after nine racks and See seemed to be fighting with himself and his performance. But See never gave up. He started a great comeback, tied the match at 6:6 and even went on the hill with 7:6. The smell of defeat came to Majid and he would not want to lose this match. Instead, he fought his way back and tied the match at 7:7. After almost two hours of hard fighting, Majid had the better end in his favor and finished the match with a lucky 8:7 for him.

Gold Medals for Czuprynska, Sniegocki and Deklerck

The Gold medalists are Mateusz Sniegocki (POL), Oliwia Czuprynska (POL) and Kurt Deklerck (BEL).

The final match in the men's division between Sniegocki and Konstantin Stepanov (RUS) was a demonstration of power from the Polish player. He seemed to be so full of self-confidence. He played rock solid and punished every mistake that Stepanov made without mercy. "It's good to hear that I look very self-confident", stated a modest Sniegocki after the final, "sometimes though I did not feel like that", he said, smiling. "I think I did not give many chances to my opponents today. Maybe that was the key for my success today. I feel very happy about that Gold Medal". Sniegocki defeated Stepanov clearly with 8:3 and Stepanov never had a chance to get into the match at all.

Back in the UK for first time since 2005

THE 21st annual running of the PartyPoker.com World Pool Masters will take place from 25th to 27th October at the Metrodome in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. This represents the first time in eight years that one of pool’s longest running tournaments takes place in the UK.

In its 20 year history, the Masters spent the first ten years in Britain before moving to Holland for a four year spell, interrupted by a return to the UK in 2005 when Raj Hundal lifted the title in Doncaster, a few miles up the road from Barnsley.

The last five years have seen three Masters in Las Vegas, one in Manila and then Kielce, Poland last year where local man Karol Skowerski shocked some big names to lift the title.

Yorkshire is currently a hotbed of pool with the likes of Darren Appleton, Daryl Peach, Kelly Fisher and Chris Melling all hailing from the northern English county.

Commented Matchroom Sport Chairman Barry Hearn, “We are delighted to be bringing the Masters back to the UK after a long spell away. After the huge sell-out successes of the Mosconi Cup in London in the past few years, I’m sure pool fans will be eager to support the Masters and we will be doing our best to bring the biggest names in world pool to Barnsley.”

Mark Gray Rules at T9B UK Championship

Mickey Flynns Cambridge played great hosts for the T9B UK Championship on Saturday 6th April 2013. 24 players entered this new prestigious event to the 9ball calendar. The unbeatable T9B 2x format was used but there were a few elements that made this event different from the rest, for the first time ever T9B used winner breaks but also a break box. It was decided by the players that the balls were breaking too easily on the new cloths at the Cambridge club on Mill Road from the wing, therefore the break box was introduced.

The club was set-up late on Friday night by Ricardo Jones, each table was cleaned and fully equipped with a set of Aramith Match balls, a scoreboard and an Ultimate Breakmaster Rack. Union Jack flags were hung between the tables and Kamui posters surrounded the main stream table... The venue looked amazing.

Mickey Flynns is perfect to watch great 9ball as the bar area is raised and over looks the tables. Even though Richard had be up very late setting up the club he wasn’t going to let the players down, after just a few hours sleep Jones was back at the club cooking the Bacon rolls for when the players arrived.

FIVE YEAR AGREEMENT COVERS TEN DIFFERENT EVENTS

MATCHROOM SPORT is delighted to announce an exciting new five year agreement with Sky Sports to bring a variety of outstanding events to the world’s premier sports channel.

Commencing this year, the deal encompasses ten events in total producing nearly 200 hours of high quality programming per year up to the end of 2017.

The agreement is an extension of an ongoing relationship between the two organisations that goes back to 1991 and Sky Sports’ inaugural year.

Commented Matchroom Sport chairman Barry Hearn; "Our long-standing relationship with Sky Sports has been a vital ingredient in the Matchroom story over the years and we are very excited to be continuing it into the future.

“Without doubt, Sky Sports have always been the pioneer in sports TV with production values and levels of creativity that leave the competition in their wake.

“We are excited to be providing them with a variety of events in a variety of sports which showcase these sports to huge UK audiences.”

Events include the 20 year-old Mosconi Cup, the Ryder Cup of pool; the recently produced World Championship of Ping Pong which put old school table tennis back on the map; Fish’O’Mania, the nothing Cup of fishing which is now entering its 20th year, as well as the Fish’O’Mania International event.

Also included is the popular World Seniors Snooker Championship which sees legends of the baize compete once again; the PGA EuroPro Tour, the 15 event developmental golf tour that has produced some of today’s golfing superstars and the Weber Cup which pitches Europe and America’s finest tenpin bowlers in a Ryder Cup-style competition.

The Iceman takes the title!

What an event! What a happening this turned out to be. 181 announced players from 13 nations showed up for the 9th edition of the Interpool Open 2013. During four days beginners to pros fought it out in the main event, the 9-ball tournament race to 11 with handicaps 0-8. There were no major upsets or surprises until the last day of play. Daryl Peach was beaten by David Larsson who showed his old form from back in the days when he played on the Eurotour and EC. Peach finished 17th.

A surprise for some of you pool fans out there with Andreas Gerwén's victory over Earl Strickland in the quarter final. Gerwén is a hard core Eurotour player, medalist at the last EC and the only one that defeated the winner of this year's China Open, Dennis Orcollo, in the very same tournament.

Mika Immonen was never really threatened during the four day tournament, he cruised to the final against Gerwén. Mika offered up some great pool and controlled the final to win 11-6. This was Immonen's first title at the Interpool Open and we hope to see him back next year to defend it.

Daryl Peach repeated last year's success in the Interpool 10-ball Challenge and defended his title. This prestigious event features only 16 players in a single elimination, race to 8 and winners break format. The prize fund is heavy focused at the top prize. Peach defeated Immonen in the semifinal and Strickland in the final. In the boiling venue packed with people and loud music filling the pool hall the atmosphere was electric late on Saturday night when this event was played.

Four days of great pool, party and fun has come to an end. Next year Interpool Open celebrates it´s 10th anniversary! We promise all you fans out there to do our best to make that event even greater. Thanks to you all for this year.
