Hard Times Ten Ball Open
Once again, Hard Times Billiards is hosting a $5000 added Open Ten Ball Tournament on May 4-6, 2012. It is a double elimination format, race to 9, the entry fee was $125 for early payment, (the opportunity for this has, of course, now passed) but the $150 entry day of event is obviously still available. The format will be 10 ball, race to 9, double elimination, and i previous years it has always been "rack your own" so I guess that will stay the same.
All the big name American players will be in attendance, (except Hatch and Dechaine who are on TAR duty) and London based Raj Hundal has been tearing all over "the States" for a while now, and will be making an appearance here too. After he recently took 2nd place in the West Coast Challenge 10-Ball Event, he'll be hoping to go one better here - good luck Raj.
The tournament will be played to WPA 10 Ball Rules and the whole event will be streamed free by POV Pool and will be featured on the front page of Pro9 - The European Pool Billiard Resource for our readers to enjoy!

QUALIFYING DETAILS FOR TWO FURTHER SPOTS
WITH THE 2012 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool set for 4-9 September at Robinson’s Place in Manila, Matchroom Sport can announce the initial 13 European nations invited to take part in the $250,000 event.
Taken using the Euro Tour rankings after the recent Italian Open in Treviso, they are;
Austria, Belgium, Croatia, England, Finland, Germany, Holland, Italy, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden & Switzerland.
The two representatives from each of the 13 nations will be determined predominantly using the Matchroom Sport Mosconi Cup Rankings following the Austrian Open in early June. Players will also have the World 9 Ball Championship in Qatar in which to add to their current points tally.

The 72nd World Tournament of 14.1 Moves to New York
It's back again and for the seventh consecutive year, Dragon Promotions will produce the biggest international 14.1 event in the world, The 72nd World Tournament of Straight Pool . Once again in partnership with the support of Dr.Michael Fedak, this year's event will for the first in decades move to New York to Carom Cafe in Queens. The well renown billiard room will host this year's event starting July 29 through August 3, 2012. Once again the greatest straight pool players from around the world will arrive on USA soil and attend this prestigious event to play for the coveted title of greatest straight pool player in the world.
Finally we are in New York City! Ever since the first year we resurrected the World Tournament, New Yorkers have been literally begging us to move it there. They promised big crowds, so here we are seven years later. This is the closest we have also ever been to Manhattan, so we are only a few stops on the subway to Queens and Carom Cafe", said Cindy Lee, CEO of Dragon Promotions.
Sponsors and private contributors are still needed for this year's event. Final added money and fund raising for the 2nd Annual Straight Pool Hall of Fame still must be generated. Baribal Pool club in Tartu, Estonia, was the first stop for the Olympic-Online Baltic Pool League 2012 I stage. The competition was held in 9-ball in men's and women's division simultaneously. In men's division participated 58 and in women's division 15 athletes from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Bulgaria.
After the first day it was down to 8 men and 4 women athletes and there were no surprises. All the main favourites were still strongly going after the title both in men's and women's division. In men's division Estonian Denis Grabe (Team Olympic-Online) dominated his quarter final match as he crushed Tomas Steponkus 7-3 and marched to the semi final where he was met by a young gun from Lithuania, Tomas Mineikis. Unfortunately for Mineikis he did not have the needed gunpowder and was forced to watch as Grabe pocketed ball after ball to win the match 7-2 and clinch a place in a final.
