Jayson Shaw the 17yo Scottish sensation claimed the last remaining place into the IPT World Open in Reno next week by beating Rico Diks of the Netherlands, Shaw was devastating from start to finish and even earned high praise from Tony Drago.
Qualifying for the World Open was no fluke either as the list of players he beat along the way will tell you, Andy Barnett, Christian Reimering, Andy Worthington, Vilmos Foldes, Mark Gray and of course Rico Diks to qualify..

Day 5 Results.
USA cruised into the semi-finals to finally end the resistance of brave Hong Kong in the PartyPoker.com World Cup of Pool.
Hong Kong , dismissed as 150/1 outsiders before the tournament, had defeated seeded teams Sweden and Russia in earlier rounds but were thrashed 9-3 by America , the competition’s number three seeds.
Earl Strickland and Rodney Morris will now face Vietnam in Sunday afternoon’s semi-final and will be confident of securing their spot in the first ever World Cup final.

Day 4 Results - "Orient Express" Chenman and Kong surprise everyone!
Snooker stars Ronnie O’Sullivan and Steve Davis may be out of the Tournament but the Hong Kong team of Lee Chenman and Kong Man-ho produced their second consecutive upset to book a place in the quarter-finals where they will face the might of Team USA .
Chinese-speaking Lee Chenman representing Hong Kong , was born in Scotland and lived in England for more than 15 years until last year when he moved back to home city of his parents in the Far East .
The Hong Kong side were dismissed as 150/1 outsiders by bookmakers before the competition but have been the story of the tournament so far as they have beaten two seeded teams to reach the last eight.

Day 3 Results - Scotland, Ireland and England "B" out!
There were wins for Finland , Italy and Vietnam as the first round of the 2006 PartyPoker.com World Cup of Pool moved towards its conclusion at the Newport Centre, South Wales.
There is just one opening round match – Scotland v Holland – before the last 16 matches commence this evening.
Team Finland comprised of 2001 World Pool Champion Mika Immonen and former Euro Tour winner Markus Juva looked good as they eased their way into the second round at the expense of Ireland ’s Tommy Donlon and Paddy McLaughlin this afternoon.

Day 2 Results - England "A" and Wales out!
In another day of exciting play at the PartyPoker.com World of Pool , Spain the USA and Germany ran out winners to cement their respective berths in the second round of the tournament at the Newport Centre, South Wales .
The Spanish teaming of David Alcaide and Rafael Guzman enjoyed a sweet victory over Team England as they nudged out Raj Hundal and Ronnie O’Sullivan in a classic 9-8 thriller.
In front of a busy house, the two teams entered the arena with most of the support being in favour of the English. They got off to the worst possible start though as they found themselves 4-0 down to Spain within 20 minutes.

First results announced.
Action commenced this afternoon at the Newport Centre, South Wales as the inaugural PartyPoker.com World Cup of Pool got underway and it was wins for Canada, Malaysia and the Czech Republic.
The 32 team tournament features single elimination pairs matches with the races starting at nine and increasing as the tournament progresses.
The Canadian pairing of Luc Salvas and Tyler Edey had a comfortable win over Thailand despite playing the whole match with just one cue. The speedy Salvas lost his suitcase in transit from Canada and with it his prized cues.

32 national teams representing 31 countries are gathering in Newport , South Wales in preparation for the inaugural PartyPoker.com World Cup of Pool which gets underway at the Newport Centre on Tuesday afternoon, 22 August.
From the Far East to North America , from Europe to Africa , some of the world’s greatest cuemen will do battle over six days for the $250,000 prize fund, with $60,000 going to the winning two-man team.
The format is 9 ball, straight knock-out, ‘scotch’ doubles whereby players take alternate shots and the opening round matches are race to 9 with alternate break.
