2012 WPA World Artistic Pool Championship
The WPA World Artistic Pool Championship was held March 8 11, 2012 at the Allen Hopkins Super Billiards Expo in Oaks, PA. 36 players competed from around the world for 9 WPA World Artistic Pool Championship titles.
Nick Nikolaidis (Canada) defeated Jamey Gray (USA) in one of 2 semifinal matches by a very close score of 119 to 117. In the other semifinal match Andy Segal (USA) defeated Sebastian Giumelli (Argentina) 102 to 51. The finals match pitted two great players against each other Andy The Magic Man Segal and Nick Quick Nick Nikolaidis. For the second year in a row Andy has proven why he is still the number one ranked artistic pool player in the world, besting Nick with focused precision by a score of 106 to 90.
The 2012 WPA World Artistic Pool Discipline Champions were Jimmy Glanville (USA) in Trick/Fancy Shots, Tim Chin (USA) in Special Arts, Wayne Parker (Africa) in Draw Shots, Jamie Moody (USA) in Follow Shots, Jamey Gray (USA) in Bank/Kick Shots and Stroke Shots, Abram Diaz (USA) in Jump Shots, and Andy Segal (USA) in Masse Shots. Event players voted on the Sportsmanship Award, with one of the youngest players ever to compete, Iulian Cernatinschi (USA) becoming the special recipient. Abram Diaz also earned a special spirit award for a unique display of professional character during his quarterfinal match loss to Sebastian Giumelli.

Home win as Taiwan's Chieh-Yu Chou takes most prestigious title of the year
For 15 years, the Chinese Taipei Billiard Association (CBTA) have been organising superb high quality pool tournaments under the Amway banner, and once again this event's very international field of talented players is sponsored by Amway, and supported by the Sports Affairs Council of the Executive Yuan, Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee and Sports Federation, and hosted at the delightful A-Zone of TaiMall Shopping Center in Taiwan.
The single elimination stage started on Day 3, and as Day 4 loomed we saw the crucial closing stages of this event with just six players remaining. There were two players still flying the flag for European pool fans, Austria's Jasmin Ouschan eliminated Korea's Ga-Yong Kim to book a place in the semi-finals, and in the other half of the draw, Ireland's Kelly Fisher is hoped to do the same later in the day, but she would need to get by the 2009 Amway Champion first, and this would be no mean feat as Taiwan's Chieh-Yu Chou was obviously in form, having ended Jeanette Lee's chances the day before.
On the final day of play, it was a delight to see Jasmin Ouschan's name writ large in the final match to challenge for the title, her reward for winning a tough semi-final match with Xiao-Ting Pan. Unfortunately for Europe's pool fans, Taiwan's Chieh-Yu Chou proved too powerful, knocking out China's Si-ming Chen in her semi-final match and following that by defeating Ouschan in the final. Chieh-Yu Chou, a worthy winner, battled through some of the toughest players in the field of world class contenders - a testament to the strength in depth delivered by a country that encourages and rewards it's star players, and let's not forget, Chou also won this event in 2009.

With the collaborative efforts of Guys & Dolls Billiards and Dragon Promotions, the highly successful Predator Pro Challenge continues its tour through some of the most popular pool and billiards towns throughout the country. 15-time World Champion, Allison Fisher will be appearing and performing at Guys & Dolls Billiards on March 21st. Also, featuring in this event is top professional Charlie Williams, more recently, the Captain of Team USA of the Mosconi Cup.
This duo of top caliber skill and championship character will have Guys & Dolls Billiards full of avid players, amateurs, and pro-pool hopefuls from all around the Roanoke area. There will be a chance for fans to register and personally meet and be coached by both pros earlier in the day! EPBF and Kozoom will bring the EC to your homes
The upcoming 2012 Dynamic European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair athletes will be broadcasted in a new dimension.
The new media partner for the EPBF, Kozoom Productions, will Stream all 24 tables LIVE during the duration of the event. This means hundreds of hours of LIVE pool action!
One table will be the feature table with several cameras and most matches which were recorded on that table will be edited afterwards and filed in the archive at www.kozoom.com. In order to have full access to all features of the Kozoom website, one must register and log in to the site. Then, passes can be purchased in order to be able to watch all the action live. An express pass for 48 hours, a monthly premium pass with automatic renewal (credit card required) for 10,-/month or an annual pass for 96,- for one year are available to all registered members.
Once the member has upgraded to the express or premium pass, he will be able to watch all matches live, enjoy the recorded and edited matches from the feature table, see photos of the event, read news from the Championships, read through the forum, see the instructional page, etc.

European players invited once again to Sweden
Britain's favourite Indian pool player Raj Hundal has been mightily successful at this event, winning it in 2009 and in 2010 with back to back wins over Marcus Chamat in both finals. In 2011 Hundal made the final match again, but was denied his hat-trick of victories as he lost to Dragon Promotions partner Rodney Morris with an 11-5 scoreline.
Hosted by Sweden's Marcus Chamat, this is always a popular event, and as well as featuring some interesting "Special Event" extras, it also draws some very tasty talent. Last year, the likes of Niels Feijen, Tony Drago, Mika Immonen, and Estonia's Dennis Grabe attended. This year, Torbjrn Blomdahl and Ewa Mataya Lawrence have already signed up, and now you are invited too!

Melling maintains top spot
CHRIS MELLING maintained his grip on the 2012 PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup European rankings with a semi-final finish at the recent Bosnian Open on the Euro Tour. The Englishman, who topped the rankings for last year's event, has opened up a 12 point lead over second placed Nick van den Berg, another top finisher from last year.
The European Mosconi Cup Ranking consists of 11 events six Euro Tour events and five "World" events. The "World" events will carry approximately 50% more points due to the international strength of the field.
Only players finishing in the last 32 of each event will be allocated points and at the conclusion, after the 2012 US Open, the top two players will automatically gain entry to the Mosconi Cup side.
