Johan Ruijsink and Alex Lely have added a massive pool-infusion to the cuesports calendar. From the 17th until the 21st August, Skillz and Drillz-III takes place.
Johan and Alex use their 30 years of playing and coaching experience at the highest level to give the participants a tidal wave of information: technique, shot-selection, kick-shots, safeties, the mental game and more than a sniff of straightpool.
But I never play straightpool!...
...We are from a small country with a very modest group of players to work with. What we do have is the analytical mindset and the will and conviction to found the learning process on knowledge and understanding. Straightpool gives the foundation of a nuclear bunker: technically and mentally. If you witnessed Stephan Cohen and Nick van den Berg win their European gold in 10 and 9-ball respectively, the straightpool in their game clearly shone through.

Ireland's American Pool League Pro Season
Hustlers Pool Hall, Belfast is extremely proud to announce Irelands new APL Pro Ranking Season. The American Pool League is a yet to be launched Pool League system and Hustlers Pool Hall Belfast was the first to sign up on a R&D basis explains HPHB Tournament & Events organiser, Mr. Sean Judge. We were so overwhelmed by the enthusiasm pouring out of this organisation that we thought to develop the relationship, he added.
Mr. Judge also said, The new Irish Professional Season will be strictly limited to 16 players as we want quality not quantity. It consists of 5 Pro Ranking events (Double Elimination with guaranteed tournament pay outs) which will then seed players for the Grand Final! We have also adopted a Grand Slam initiative for any player that achieves 5 tournament wins in one season. All of our events will be supported with Trophies, guaranteed prize money and we are extremely pleased to announce official sponsors to our season.
As a display of our intentions we are privileged and humbled to announce that McDermott Cue are to be the official cue sponsor of our tour. We have previously met Director of Cue King Promotions, Jason Lawrence who has shown huge interest in Irelands American Pool scene. So it has been a natural and mutual development process for us.

CARTER HOPING TO LAND KNOCKOUT BLOW
Ali Carter is hoping to land the knockout blow on his rivals at the PTT-EGAT Snooker World Cup.
Carter and team-mate Mark Selby became the second team to qualify for the quarter-finals and Carter has enjoyed his downtime with a night out watching Thai boxing.
He went to the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok and was among a crowd of 5,000 packed into the arena for a chaotic evening of action.
"It was really good fun," said Carter. "I saw some really good knockouts and it was a real eye-opener but it was good to get to see into that culture.
"Mark and I are here to win it and are trying our hardest to do so but it's important to have your downtime and relax a bit."
Carter, who lost both of his singles matches yesterday against Belgium , won both of them today as England defeated India 4-1 to join Northern Ireland in the last eight.
The two qualifiers will now meet on Friday to see who tops the group and avoid the winners of Group D, potentially the Scottish pairing of John Higgins and Stephen Maguire.
"At the start of the tournament our aim was to get out of the group and it looked tough on paper but we've done it quite easily," added Selby.
"It wasn't pretty to watch but it's the result that counts. We wanted at least 4-1 and got 4-1.
"I would be more than happy if we don't play to a great standard if we win the tournament. It's not about playing pretty snooker and in a one-frame tournament you have to be solid throughout."

Team Ireland congratulate one of the eventual qualifiers Team Switzerland
Two more national teams for this years World Cup of Pool qualified
Team Switzerland and Team Estonia will be on the starting list when this years PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool will commence. Team Switzerland, consisting of Dimitri Jungo and Ronald Regli, defeated Team Hungary in the deciding match 8:3. The Swiss team will be joined by Team Estonia, represented by Dennis Grabe and Erki Erm. They defeated Team Denmark with a heartbreak 8:7 result.
13 teams competed in the qualifying event which was held at Hotel Alpina in Alpendorf, St. Johann in Austria today. The nations were Belgium I, Belgium II, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary, Ireland, Macedonia, Norway I, Norway II, Norway III, Scotland, Slovenia and Switzerland. All of these teams tried to grasp a spot in the prestigious 2011 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool which is organized by Matchroom Sport. The event will be held September 6 through 11 in Manila, Philippines, and will carry a prize fund of US$250.000.

It feels absolutely amazing, its a dream come true!
In high class final, Richard Jones crushed Serge Das and won the match with 9:5, becoming the 2011 Dynamic Euro-Tour Austrian Open Champion.
Jones had the far better start and seemed to be much more in gear than Das. He was leading already 3:1 when he executed a perfect jump shot over the entire table, pocketing the 1-ball and getting a tough position for the 2-ball. He also made the 2-ball and ran the rack to take a 4:1 lead over Das. More than that, he showed Das that he was ready for becoming a Champion today.
In the 6th rack, Das broke and scratched. Jones ran the balls and missed the 7-ball! That did cost him some momentum. It was a twitch, said Jones later, I knew that if I would make the lead bigger and bigger, it would be hard for Serge to come back.
But Serge Das came back. After the mistake, the match went along and got tighter since Das managed to close the gap a bit. At the score of 6:5 for Jones, Das broke the balls. No ball went in and safeties were exchanged. Das forced Jones to play a foul. He then played another good safe on Jones since the balls were still not open. Jones answered that with a marvellous resafe which forced Das to play a foul shot. Jones ran the rack and took a 7:5 lead. Then Jones broke and ran and went on the hill which probably broke Das neck.

Two spots available for Euro hopefuls
WITH THE 2011 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool taking place from 6 11 September in Manila, there are two spots in the main event up for grabs this Sunday 10th July as 13 pairs of European players battle it out for a trip to represent their country in the Philippines.
The venue is the Sporthotel Alpina in Sankt Johann, Alpendorf, Austria and there are a total of ten different nations competing with two pairs from Belgium and three from Norway. Under the format, only one pair from any one country may take a qualifying spot.
The top ranked playing competing is Estonias Dennis Grabe, currently No.32 on the Euro Tour rankings, and he pairs up with compatriot Erki Erm in a bid for World Cup glory.
Other notables in the field include Belgiums Noel Bruynooghe, who along with Serge Das, reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup of Pool in 2007. He partners Olivier Mortier this time round.
