The Magician Efren Reyes went undefeated through the full 64-player field to become the 2011 (12th) U.S. Open One Pocket Champion at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Produced by CueSports International, the $10,000 added event drew the finest one pocket players from around the world as well a sophisticated room full of spectators. Reyes defeated poker star Chris Gentile in the single set finals 5-2. This was Gentiles first U.S. Open One Pocket and his most successful finish in a major one pocket event.
Gentile had an impressive showing, besting Mike Davis 4-1 and Rafael Martinez 4-3. To enter the semi-finals, Gentile narrowly avoided a loss to The Pearl Earl Strickland when he came back from being down 3-0 to win 4-3. In the a-side finals, Gentiles run was halted by Reyes. Reyes took a quick lead 3-1 after an unfortunate scratch by Gentile. After an aggressive cut shot on the 3 ball, Reyes gave up game five but had the break up 3-2. Gentile chipped away at the stack and responded to Reyess moves but in the end, the magician worked his magic and closed out the set.

Fond memories will doubtless be rekindled as the GB 9 Ball Tour returns to the Barcel Hotel in Daventry next month for the third annual Paul Medati Trophy.
As many people throughout various codes of billiard sport will already know, Paul lost his fight against lung cancer in 2008 at the age of 65, very shortly after the inaugural GB9 season had come to a close. During his career as a snooker player throughout the 80s and early 90s, as well as his briefer stint within American pool, his was an infectious and warm character which has been missed by countless players and fans alike, and naturally the decision to rename a GB9 tournament in his honour was well received back in 2009.

Huidji See - 2011 WPA World Ten Ball Champion See the New World Ten Ball Champion
The finals was a race to 11 games between See and Fu. Fu had the advantage of the warmer arm having just completed his win over Biado. But See took the first rack and looked at ease. His demeanor stayed on an even keel as he moved out to a 3-1 lead and made no mistakes. Soon See had moved out to a 4-1 lead. But in the next rack Fu played a safe that had See kicking at the 5 ball. He made the hit but left a shot and Fu got out form there to narrow the gap a bit to 4-2. Fu missed his shot on the 2 ball in the next rack and See easily claimed it to lead 5-2. Every thing was working now for See. Every break found one of the two balls in the second row falling into a side pocket. He made a nifty combo on the 2 ball to get the next rack going and continued until he played what appeared to be a very effective safety. But Fu jumped two balls and made the 5 in the side. He could not convert the 6 ball though and See came back to the table to finish off that rack and lead 6-2. The door was beginning to close on Fu.

Hustlers Spring 8Ball Tournament 2011 Semi-Finalists (from L to R.) Gary Johnston & Mark McDonald, Paddy McLoughlin & Hudd Millen Hot 8 Ball Action in Belfast!
On a hot Spring day, when the neighbourhood were out sunning themselves the real action was happening in Hustlers Pool Hall. Some say Pool is a winter sport but Hustlers Pool Hall laughs in their general direction. Throwing caution to the wind they held the first 8 Ball tournament of the season over the Easter Holidays on a day so hot I think even the pool balls were sweating.

World Ten Ball Added to List
NICK VAN DEN BERG (Holland) has regained top spot in the PartyPoker.net European Mosconi Cup rankings following a third place finish at the Beijing Open last week. Collectively it wasnt an overly successful week for European hopes which gives Van den Bergs points an added value.
Dutchman Niels Feijen drops from first to second, while Chris Melling (England) maintains his push for a debut Mosconi Cup appearance after coming 9th in China. The likeable Yorkshireman climbs two places to tied third with Ralf Souquet of Germany.

 | Olympic-Online Baltic Pool League 2011 - Stage II Winners |
Olympic-Online Baltic Pool League 2011 Baribal Billiard Club Tartu Highway 63/Hermanni 1 Tallinn Estonia www.baribal.ee www.epf.ee www.olympic-online.com
Saturday 30 April - Sunday 1 May 2011
Head referee Dmitri Dmitrjev presents Agne Jarusauskaite with her trophy. Click the image to view the larger picture - All photos used by Pro9 with permission. Grabe and Jarusauskaite win the Olympic-Online Baltic Pool League 2011 II stage
Denis "The Kristiine Machinegun" Grabe (EST) of the Olympic-Online Pro Team and Agne Jarusauskaite (LIT) were the firm winners of the second Olympic-Online Baltic Pool League 2011 held 30.04-01.05.2011 in Tallinn in the Baribal Poolclub.
The first day of the OOBPL II stage started with surprises when on the winners side Arne Lees (EST) beat last stage winner Marius Śiaudkulis (LIT) 7-3 and Eltsin Zabitov (EST) got the best over Erki Erm (EST) 7-5 for a spot in the last 32. However both of the big guns did not throw their cues in the corner and came back from the loser's side to reach the semi finals. On the second day Siaudkulis' opponent in the semi final was Denis Grabe and Erm had to overcome a young and rising star Mihkel "Smurf" Rehepapp (EST). Grabe showed almost perfect game and did not give many chances to Śiaukdulis and took a comfortable 7-2 win. The second semi final proved to be a real thriller where Rehepapp decided the match in the final rack to claim a great 7-6 victory over Erm.
The all Estonian, race to 9, final started with an almost great clearance by Rehepapp only to miss an easy 10 ball to give an easy 1-0 lead to Grabe. Rack two and Grabe to break. No problems for Grabe and the score 2-0. In the third rack Rehepapp did not make any balls from the break and Grabe took a comfortable 3-0 lead. However Rehepapp did not surrender and shifted into another gear and started to climb back and with great skills reached to a draw 3-3. Rehepapp to break and no balls made and Grabe had an easy clearance. After this rack it was all about "The Kristiine Machinegun" that bulleted the balls in, giving Rehepapp only one rack and winning comfortably 9-4.
