2011 EPBF European Championships - Day 6-9
EPBF European Championships 2011 8-Ball, 9-Ball, 10-Ball and 14.1 for Men, Women and Wheelchair Venue Stahlpalast Magdeburger Landstraße 228 14770 Brandenburg Germany www.stahlpalast-brandenburg.de www.epbf.com www.epconline.eu - PPV LiveStream (20 tables/20 streams)
23 March 2011 - 3 April 2011
Gerda Hoffstatter and Jasmin Ouschan - Austria Ouschan snatches another title - Larsson takes title in wheelchair division
Jasmin Ouschan is the 2011 EPBF European Champion in the Women’s 9-Ball division.
Jasmin took a quick 3:1 lead over Gerda. She opened the next rack with a powerful break. She had no position on the 2-ball so she decided to simply banked it in. “We have seen everything already so far – bank shots, combinations, kick shots… she just seems to never miss” comments the official commentator of the LiveStream matches Marco Takis. Jasmin ran the rack and took a 4:1 lead, making the game look so easy. Then Gerda played a good break shot and ran the balls until she got no position on the 6-ball. She left a safety for Jasmin who tried to play a jump shot but she scratched. Gerda ran the remaining balls and got closer, making the score 2:4. Another break and run followed from Jasmin to go to 5:2. Then it was Gerda’s break shot. Two balls went down but there was no shot on the 1-ball. Gerda played a push out, leaving a combination shot for Jasmin. Jasmin pocketed the combination shot dead centre and ran the whole rack, making the score 6:2. That put her on the hill with her own break shot to come up. She pocketed the 1-ball in the side pocket but got no position on the 2-ball. She let Gerda get to the table again because she missed the 2-ball.
Gerda had a long shot and she missed, leaving a shot in turn for Jasmin. Jasmin pocketed the 2-ball but then scratched on the 3-ball. Gerda got to the table with ball in hand. She ran some balls and fell straight on the 7-ball. By trying to play position for the 8-ball, Gerda tried to cheat the pocket and missed. The tables have very tight pockets. Jasmin got to the table and played another combination shot, sinking the 9-ball. She defended her title from last year in the 9-ball division as well as in straight pool.

Johnny Archer talks exclusively to Pro9 about Bad Blood
Legends and Champions "Bad Blood" Challenge: Archer vs Strickland Drifters Pool Room 3223 Cornhusker Hwy Lincoln Nebraska USA www.tvmike.tv www.drifterspoolroom.com www.runoutmedia.com www.legendschampions.com www.johnnyarcher.net
Saturday/Sunday 2-3 April 2011

Johnny Archer talks about practice, money matches, and Earl's ear muffs!
Pro9 Hi Johhny, thanks for taking time to talk to us at Pro9... You've got a lot of fans in Europe and we're all very interested in the "Bad Blood 1" event coming in April between you and Earl Strickland, can you tell us how this tournament came about? Who's idea was it, is there really some bad feeling between you two, or are you actually the best of friends? How important is it to you to win this match?
Johnny "Mark (Cantrill) and I were talking one day and we were talking about putting on a Challenge match and who we would like to play each other. Earl's name came to mind because him and I have played against each other a long time in professional events but never a long challenge match."
"Over the last few years there has been some significant tension between us going back to the Mosconi Cup when, in my opinion, he broke off the team and played on his own team, which brought tension to all players and their ability to focus as a team on winning in a positive environment. Although I've always looked up to Earl since I started playing back in the 80's, I really watched his style of play, but never his behavior. I feel like over the years Earl has become angry with fans and other players including myself and it has really upset me because I have always liked Earl and stood up for him against everybody."
"It is very important to me to win because I hate to lose but mostly it's not about the money; maybe more of a challenge to myself to beat once again one of the World's all time Greatest players."

8-ball Championship has its winners
The European Champions in 8-ball have been decided. Dominic Jentsch defeated Ralf Souquet in a very one-sided final. Ralf made too many mistakes, very unusual for “The Kaiser”. In the first rack, he committed a foul and Jentsch ran out. Jentsch played solid during the entire match and grasped the gold medal, winning 8:1 in the final match.

Straight Pool Champions Crowned - Ouschan and Kaplan take the first merits
The first two titles of the 2011 Dynamic European Championships have been awarded. Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) and Tomasz Kaplan (POL) are 2011 EPBF European Straight Pool Champions.
The match between Kaplan and Fabio Petroni started not good for the young Polish player. He opened the match with a safety shot that was not too good. Petroni made 13 balls but he failed to get position on the last two balls. He missed a shot and brought Kaplan back to the table. Kaplan also missed and Petroni played 2 more balls. “I was very nervous”, the Italian player admitted after the final, “I was very focussed but my nervousness forced errors on me. My opponent was in dead stroke and I had no chance in this match”, said Petroni. Then Kaplan got back to the table and ran 56 and 66 balls. Leading 122:18, he was almost sure to win the match. Petroni got another chance to play a combination shot after Kaplan has played a safety. But Petroni missed and left te balls open for Kaplan to become the first Polish player ever to win a title in the Men’s or Women’s division.
“I am so happy, I cannot even find the right words to say”, said an emotional Kaplan after the finals. “This victory means a lot for me and my country.”

Hearn is taking us in the right direction says cloth manufacturer
The Barry Hearn factor is having the desired effect on the world of snooker according to the UK’s largest billiard cloth maker.
Milliken report that the new chairman of World Snooker is sparking renewed interest in the game here and abroad and the market for its cloth is in better shape now than at any time in recent years.
“Barry Hearn is an experienced negotiator and, like us, wants only the best for the game. His involvement is attracting new tournaments and more television coverage,” comments Milliken marketing director Duncan Kettell (pictured).
“It proves that many people still enjoy snooker with high-end clubs in the UK and Europe doing well despite the recession and we continue to gain market share.”

Robertson To Face Trump At Crucible
Neil Robertson will begin the defence of his Betfred.com World Snooker Championship title against Judd Trump on April 16.
The random draw for the first round of snooker's biggest tournament took place today and Bristol's 21-year-old Trump was picked out to face Australia's Robertson.
"It's a tough draw because Judd is a very dangerous player," said 29-year-old Robertson. "He only plays one way, and that's to attack. He scores heavily.
"But I'd rather play him than someone who takes a long time over shots. You know what type of game you're going to get. I could have had an easier draw but I could have had a tougher one too."
Robertson will be aiming to break the 'Curse of the Crucible' by becoming the only first-time champion to retain the title the following year. "I don't feel any pressure because of that," said the left-hander who beat Graeme Dott 18-13 in last year's final.

The 2011 GB9 Midlands Classic - Press Release
Phil Burford, Jayson Shaw and Damian Massey were the title winners at the first GB9 event of 2011 at the Barceló Hotel in Daventry.
Most players will agree that the 93 days since Chris Melling sank the final 9-ball in Blackpool back in November 2010 have flown by, and it was plain to see that the off-season brought with it a certain anticipation for the best American pool players in Great Britain to hit the ground running on the tour's return to Northamptonshire. Countless new faces entered the cauldron of pool knowing they were taking their place in what many people, players and spectators alike, are quoting as the best national pool tour on the planet.

Korea have won this most prestigious event for two years in a row now as Ga Young Kim takes the 2011 title following in the steps of 2010 winner Yu Ram Cha - indeed it was Yu Ram Cha who eliminated Young in last year's final, and it was a case of "revenge is sweet" as Young ejected Cha in the quarters this year!
Once again this event's very international field of talented players was sponsored by Amway, and supported by the Sports Affairs Council of the Executive Yuan, Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee and Sports Federation, and hosted at the delightful A-Zone of TaiMall Shopping Center in Taiwan.
