Youth Event Underway
The EPBF are looking after the future of the sport in Europe with their annual running of the European Championships for "EPBF Youths" at Bad Wildungen in Germany. Featuring 8-Ball, 9-Ball, Straight Pool, as well as Team Events, it's a very full week of activity for the participants.
Photographer Bethan Louise Sage is there and has submitted these fabulous photographs from the event, including a long-range shot of a familiar face from England doing a day-shift in the commentary box!

After the amazing success of the GB9 Ball Tour, Entropy is pleased to confirm the development of GB9 Ball Leagues.
To coincide with the start of the GB9 Ball Tour’s 3rd season, GB9 Ball leagues will run in over 120 Rileys clubs throughout the U.K. (Independents wishing to participate are more than welcome, please email for criteria). The Leagues will consist of localized team events aimed at grass roots players and a more advanced County Team League aimed at the intermediate level pool player.
Exciting opportunities are guaranteed for each level to progress to the next on merit with guaranteed spots for both county and the GB9 Challenge Division.
No matter what your standard of play there will be something for all cue sports enthusiasts.

World Cup of Pool Teams Named
MATCHROOM SPORT can announce the countries taking part in the 2009 PartyCasino.net World Cup of Pool. 32 teams representing 31 nations will be present in Manila, Philippines from 1-6 September to contest what is pool’s most prestigious team prize.
The Philippines, as host nation, will have two teams present with pool legends Francisco Bustamante and Efren Reyes, who won the inaugural competition in 2006, making up one of the sides. The other Filipino side will be announced in the near future, as will the players taking part from each nation.
The American pairing of Shane Van Boening and Rodney Morris, who triumphed in Rotterdam, Holland, in the 2008 event, will be travelling to the pool-crazy Philippines to defend their title.
There will be a strong challenge from Europe with 15 nations all aiming to be the first European team to win the two-man team knockout tournament.
The event will be staged in at the SM City North Mall in the heart of Manila, Philippines with 31 matches played over six days. The host broadcaster is Solar Sports and each match will be produced by Matchroom Sport into 31 one-hour programmes which will be broadcast around the world.

Mosconi Cup Tickets Now Available
This December, the annual Mosconi Cup returns to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas as Team USA attempt to win the Mosconi Cup for the first time outright since 2005.
With victories in Las Vegas in ’07 and in Malta last year, the Europeans will be hot favourites to lift the 16th annual Mosconi Cup when the two sides collide in Sin City from 10th to 13th December.
Taking place over four days, the Mosconi Cup is pool’s answer to the Ryder Cup as two five man teams representing Europe and the USA do battle over four days in a series of singles and doubles matches.
The USA lead the 15 match series, which started in 1994, by 10 ½ to 4 ½ but Europe’s recent resurgence including an 11-5 hiding in Valetta, Malta last December means that the Americans may well be looking to some fresh faces in order to wrest the Cup back.
Selection for the two sides hots up in September and the US Open, which concludes on the 24th October, will be the final event to have an impact on Mosconi Cup spots.
With debate raging Stateside as to who should gain the coveted positions, Mosconi Cup promoters Matchroom Sport will be taking the democratic process to the American nation by allowing the final Mosconi Cup spot to be determined by public vote.

World Cup Set For SM City North Mall in Manila
MATCHROOM SPORT can announce that the 2009 PartyCasino.net World Cup of Pool will be taking place at the SM City North EDSA Mall in Metro Manila, Philippines.
Taking place from Tuesday 1st to Sunday 6th September, the $250,000 event will feature 32 two-player teams from 31 countries competing for pool’s most prestigious team prize.
The SM City North Mall is Manila’s original major mall. Opened in 1985 it lead the way as it changed the face of shopping and leisure in the Philippines.
The Mall also plays host to exhibitions and sports events with nearly 4.5 million people visiting the Mall at weekends.
Since it was first staged in Newport, Wales in 2006, the World Cup of Pool has taken place in Rotterdam, Holland in 2007 and ’08.
This year Matchroom Sport has gone into partnership with Solar Sports, the Philippines’ leading sports TV network, to bring the event to Manila, following successful stagings of the World Pool Championship in ’06 and ’07.

Schtop!!!! Those bonkers blokes at Club 8 are at it again, one of the most fun tournaments of the year has just been announced, along with the prize fund for this year's event. The Amsterdam (D)Open results are always clouded in mystery as the slightly dubious "unique selling point" of the tournament seems to be who can get most intoxicated on the positively encouraged herbal highs available at this event, whilst still being capable of winning the tournament. Apparently the smoking ban has not interfered with the running of this event, and yet again, the Club 8 guys are proud to announce that this event is NOT sanctioned by any of pool's official governing bodies.
Perfectly timed to follow on directly after the EuroTour Dutch Open in Weert so you can simply add an extra day to your visit and treat yourself to some great 8-Ball, some fantastic herb, and a really brilliant welcome from the fabulous Club 8 crew... So make a date to visit Amsterdam for this amazingly trippy event man!!!

Niels was trailing quite a bit from the start, but his resilience brought him back to 6-6. It was a long spectacular match, with both players displaying incredible showmanship: safety play, kick shots, run outs, the whole lot. At the end, Roschkowsky showed more composure and was able to dictate the match. € 2.500 to the champion, € 1.500 to the runner up.

A young man from Co. Waterford called Jason Power produced a dazzling display at the weekend (Saturday 25th July) to write himself into the history books on Ireland’s American 8 & 9 Ball Pool Tour by becoming the youngest player in the seven year history of the All Ireland Open 9Ball Championships to be crowned champion at the age of 19 years-old.
Not only does Jason make history by coming the youngest player to be crowned All Ireland Open 9Ball Champion but the Co. Waterford cueist will also be inducted into Ireland’s Hall Of Fame on Ireland’s American 8 & 9 Ball Pool Tour going alongside some fantastic champions on the roll of honours list that have secured the All Ireland title down through the years.

Qualifiers will be held for the Predator 69th World Straight Pool Championship for any player wishing to participate in the biggest and most prestigious straight pool title in the world. Ozone Billiards presents the greatest 14.1 players on Earth at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, New Jersey on August 24-29, 2009. In this fourth installment from Dragon Promotions, the greatest straight pool players from around the world will arrive on USA's shores again to New Jersey, and attend this prestigious event to play for the coveted title of World Straight Pool Champion.
Two winners will be determined at each qualifier which will give them a free entry into the main event.
