Clinical Souquet dashes Yang's hopes of hometown gold
The stage was set for a dream ending to the men's 9-ball tournament at the World Games, with Kaohsiung native Yang Ching-shun playing for a gold medal in his home town.
The 31-year-old Yang has a long list of 9-ball titles to his name during an illustrious career, winning gold in the 2001 World Games and the 1998 and 2002 Asian Games, but he was desperately hoping to clinch a major international title at home and seemed poised to fulfill his dream Sunday.

Appleton's keep it in the family at The GB9 London Classic
An Appleton featured in each of the three division finals at Rileys American Pool Club in Shepherd's Bush, London this weekend, as 10-Ball World Champion Darren won the main event, and also managed a runner up spot in The Pro Cup event, whilst his lesser-known cousin Andy Appleton scored his first final in the Challenge Division at the GB9 London Classic this weekend.
GB9 is Britain’s official professional 9 ball pool tour. The tour has quickly cemented itself as the toughest and most respected national pool tour in Europe with a line up of players other nations can only dream of, such as the 2007 World Pool Champion - Daryl Peach; European Number 1 - Mark Gray, 2008 World 10 Ball Champion - Darren Appleton, London's finest - Imran Majid and Raj Hundal, snooker legend Tony Drago, and a special guest appearance at this event by former European Mosconi Cup winning team player Lee Tucker.

Entries are now being accepted from players for the 2009 All Ireland Open 9-Ball Championships taking place at Frames Snooker and Pool Club in Donegal Street Belfast City Centre on Saturday 25th July starting at 10am. Open to all cue-sport players both amateur and professional from all over Ireland and overseas, this high profile tournament is moving into its 7th annual edition and has seen some fantastic champions down through the years.
The 2009 All Ireland Open 9-Ball Championships are regarded as one of the biggest and most prestigious pool events on Irish soil, and will have a Handicap System for the first time in the seven year history of the competition.

Mickey Flynns 9-Ball results and photos!
27 players descended on everyone's favourite club this past Sunday for a rare taste of 9-ball pool action. Yes, the club is Mickey Flynns and for the first time in over two years the famous ten ball was never to be seen.
Notable names were in attendance including the ever impressive Phil Wildman, Ipswich legend Phil Morgan, up 'n coming prospect Steve Petty, and a host of local cueman featuring challenge tour snooker player Vinnie Calabrese, all around cueist Joff Middleton, youngster Finlay Laing, Dan Smith who is the best single ball potter in Mickey Flynns, 8-ball tour player Rich Wharton, and last but not least, WORLD 8-BALL CHAMPION Phil Harrison.
After a good day's play it was a case of PHIL YA BOOTS as Harrison would meet Wildman for the title. Both players had their chances but it was the experience of Harrison which took control to run out a winner by 9 to 5.

French multimedia company Kozoom is proud to announce that leading sports network Eurosport will be broadcasting 3 one-hour shows of the 9th Predator International 10-Ball Championships, starting next week.

69th Predator World Straight Pool Championship
For the fourth straight year, Dragon Promotions will produce the 69th Annual Predator World 14.1 Championship. Comet Billiards will host this year's event playing on beautiful Brunswick Gold Crown tables and using Simonis Cloth, Master Chalk, and the Laser Rack. The event will start play on August 24, 2009 and end August 29. The greatest straight pool players from around the world will arrive on USA's east coast again to New Jersey, and attend this prestigious event to play for the coveted title of World Straight Pool Champion.
The World Straight Pool Championship is the oldest tournament still existing today. Invented by Jerome Keough and shortly after recognized as the official game of billiards , the first World 14.1 Championship was held in 1911 and won by Alfredo DeOro. In its history due to war and economics, the World 14.1 Championship had 29 tournaments that did not take place including a 15 year gap between 1990-2005 until Dragon Promotions revived the game and the World Tournament in 2006, which also marked the first time a non-American won the discipline in a World Championship. That distinction went to Germany's Thorsten Hohmann.
