Tbh... I've only just read the rest of this thread lol.... Chris - I'm with ya 110%... Phil - you've done a cracking job with T9B and apart from a couple dodgy venues (which was difficult to avoid) they have been awesome!!! Your events never previously were just for 'amateurs' but they have gone that way over the last 24 months... I also think as long as it's not personal, this is what these forums are for - open debate. I forgot that Chris is on challenge division too, this makes even more mockery of you not letting him play tbh? Your just had picking people to enter?? I thought you'd had a 147?? How is it you can play in these 'amateur' events when you are capable of that on a snooker table?? Just for record my best break is 129. Leave it wiv ya! Lol

We take on board the above comments and thanks for the feedback. The problem we have is we are already halfway through the current season and having recently become a dad I can't really commit more weekends than I currently do. We have tried open events in the past and to be honest they have never been that successful due to table quality etc, however we do now have a brilliant club at St Albans. We can't change the rules of the Amateur Series halfway through the season as this wouldn't be fair but what we can do is look at our calendar and maybe offer more open events replacing some of the non Amateur Series dates. There is an awful lot of hard work and time that goes into running T9B by myself, Mark Parker and Nicole this is for very little reward and to say it's done to line our pocket is crazy, I could earn more money going to work for 2 hours than sitting in a club for 14 hours. We run T9B because we love and enjoy the sport and know that we put on some great events. T9B is for the players as there are not many events about and we are always open to suggestions but there is a way to go about it and that's not slating us in public when really what we do is very good. We spend lots of time in fact probably to much time designing new formats and tournaments in an attempt to please as many players as we can. In fact our latest idea is an open money multiplier weekender, a Saturday and a separate Sunday comp so players have the option to play in one or both of the events. We are waiting to hear back from local hotels on possible discounts, that's discount on the the actual advertised prices. We don't want to rush in and make mistakes. The events will be announced soon. T9B constantly aiming to please. [ This message was edited by: wildman147 on 2014-05-04 20:10 ]

Just to get back on topic we are talking about pool not snooker there is a whole world of difference. The reason you are using snooker as examples is because you know full well if we talk pool achievements yourself out weigh most. When we realised GB9 were now allowing players to buy there way into the pro division and letting other players drop down to the challenge regardless of previous ranking we decided we would put together a list of players from A to E, this would help decide who could enter Amateur events and who could enter rookie events. The reason we stopped the open events was due to complaints about tables, we therefore decided to stick with Amateur events. [ This message was edited by: wildman147 on 2014-05-04 20:34 ]

Why not just take us out of the league etc ? We don't get any ranking points? Hate to say it, think your point about conditions is a bit of a cheap shot! And also point about snooker standard not making a difference is just laughable IMO. Anyone who can get a 147 on a snooker table is gonna be good at pool, to the highest standard when it comes to potting. I'm not sure how it's possible to argue that point!? You can do better than that surely?? :/

No cheap shot intended that was the reason behind the decision. So your saying If the world's best snooker players took on the world's best 9 ballers the snooker players would win? Ronnie tried American Pool and said it's to hard. Many other snooker players have tried to make the switch thinking they will get an easy ride but again soon returned to snooker... Il say no more. Craig you certainly are not an amateur standard player. In fact I'd say your in the top 3 in the UK. Chris Hall is an up and coming player who is also very talented and we also don't class him as amateur standard. Finishing 4th in the pro division and a GB9 main event win say that. These are compliments for your talent but we will run some open events sooner rather than later in a top club and see how they go. Case closed [ This message was edited by: wildman147 on 2014-05-04 21:08 ]

Shaun doesn't play 9ball anymore but yes he would be allowed as he is classed on T9B ratings as a B player.

So Courtney travelled all over the world and can play, tommy former mosconi cup player and gb legend of cue sports can play! I believe I saw kev uzzell in 1 too (may be wrong) but yet Chris can't play because he's won a gb9 main event?? But then Shaun chipperfield who's also won 1 can! This is not gb9 it's total farce ball! No pros allowed fair enough but it's a case of saying no don't want you to play ur too good and looking after mates. What happened to doing it for the fun of it and wanting to set 9ball a light again? Threads like this are just gunna make people not want to start playing again

Sorry Harty but that is exactly what your trying to do look after your friends by making this comment. Kev Uzzell played in open event. We have already explained the method. We have a list of who can enter and who can't enter. we don't class Chris as a B grade player or below. T9B has no problem personally with Chris, he is a nice guy but unfortunately he doesn't make the restrictions for these events. We have however decided to make more open events for him to enter if he would like. [ This message was edited by: wildman147 on 2014-05-06 13:14 ]

Well i wont be entering the comp if thats the case then as the tournament director is completely contradicting himself if its cats of mmtv i believe that there as been at least 10 players play your tournament in the same cat as chris n ossie! So your either telling me that these 2 players are the same standard as appleton melling etc or that you have gave advantage to courtney, chipperfield, lawrenson, rhodes (who as actually beat chris for money.) Either way i dont see this as fair
