I am looking to start up 9 ball, and was just wondering if anyone knows where I could get just a normal playing cue for cheap. By cheap I mean under about 70 quid.

Here's the nearest we have to that price...

http://www.pro9.co.uk/html/theproshop/main.php?P=product&pid=BPPC1to4

If you can wait we've got a really good quality range of new cues in that price range coming in the new year, but I doubt you'll want to wait that long.

I bought my first American cue for around that price from the cabinet at my local pool club... Where will you be playing?

Manchester. I am a student there. I'll be waiting until after Christmas, so I will have money to afford it!

Rileys have a new range of box set cues in for less than £70 - pop in your nearest club and take a look at them.

Unfortunately my form was VERY temporary! I played in that tournament at "Slick Willy's" with the most foul man-flu I have ever encountered... I very rarely catch colds, and normally shake them off really quick, but that night I actually thought I was going to faint I felt so "out of it" it was untrue... I mean, blokes like me DO NOT FAINT... EVER!!!

However, the bonus was that I was so preoccupied with the distractions of the flu symptoms that I totally forgot to listen to the usual negative thoughts and doubts that normally rule and ruin my performance and I subsequently played out of my skin, with the chap in the final convinced that I was a handicap bandit - if only he knew.

I guess I can count the times when I have been truly happy with my game on the fingers of one hand - great times, but I've often been totally unconscious of it until afterwards. Despite all the flu symptoms, that was one of my best days.

Super Secret Squirrel until they are loaded Rob. I don't think they'll be in The Pro Shop when it re-opens now. I start loading a new high-performance range tomorrow, the soonest I can see the affordable range appearing will be around January 15th at the moment. I'm raring to go, but there is a delay is at the other end. Very worth waiting for though.

Unfortunately the Rileys within Manchester city centre has been sold off and turned into a strip joint
