I'm looking for a new cue at the moment and like the look of the Poison Nitro 3 (the one with the hexagonal shaft) that is in the Pro Shop - can anyone recommend these cues (Poison).....are they a high quality playing cue ? ...any feedback on them would be appreciated .....thanx ! :-?

The Nitro's look REALLY gorgeous, and they're are made by the same people who make Predator who really know how to make a good cue!

I think you'll be seeing Raj playing with a Nitro this year too!

Yep - I agree they look great......was wondering how the hexagonal butt feels to grip and play with as I have struggled with using the more conventional "round" butt (they feel alien after using snooker cues for years) and would prefer to feel a "flat chamfer" when cueing.

Why not just buy a Snooker Cue thats been converted into an American Pool Cue? A fair few have these on GB9...Adam Shaw and Mark Gray spring to mind instantly.

I already have a snooker/pool hybrid and have used a snooker cue on tour but you don't get the same cueball reaction as you get with a proper American pool cue - also put a lot of unwanted side on the ball too.- which you can get away with on a thicker club cloth but not on a fine simonis match cloth (any side and the ball diverts off straight)......the tip size and cue weight are all factors - also have damaged ferrules because of the weight of the cueball.....

You will damage a brass ferrule if use don American Balls. Thats why Mark Gray had his ferrule changed I would imagine, and Adam Shaw uses a Predator Z2 shaft on a snooker butt...would a new shaft be an option for you?

Adam Smith uses a Predator Special edition SE-10 (i think) or something like that which cannot be bought anymore.
The next best thing will be a second hand Predator 5k(not made anymore either) or a Predator P3. The Poison own brand cue will not play as well or as good as a Predator cue IMO

I purchased a Poison Ni-5 off Simon DiVali and it plays awesome i used it at the last GB9 event and the hextagonal butt does not effect or feel weird at all... I would say its a must buy the venom shaft has minimal deflection if your about in wakefield next weekend will gladly let ya have a try with it!!
