I am interested in getting one of the Magic Ball Racks both for 8-Ball and 9/10-Ball. Does anybody know if the rack for 8-Ball is going to give me a tight rack for 14.1 also? Will missing out the front ball effect anything at all? Also, presumably the 9/10-Ball rack will give a tight rack when messing about with something like 7-Ball? I have a lot of fun playing ring games with family with 7-Ball as they don't really play Pool and anybody can win in that game!

Hi there, this is Roy from Magicballrack.com

From extensive testing with Mika, i would suggest that using Magic Ball Rack for 14.1 and 1 pocket would not work. This is due to the game style, where you slowly nudge balls out of the rack rather than breaking hard at the start of the game.

The rack can do 7 ball, it will work well !!

The rack was changed from paper to a newer and longer lasting material, this is what all the testers mentioned in feedback on when trying to improve the
product.

I also changed the color to a clear material helping blend into any table cloth, as i know some of my UK friends play on some funky red colour cloth!!

If anyone has any questions or would like to contact me please feel free to send me a mail at roy@magicballrack.com

Please note for all pro9 sales please ask BDK

Thanks

roy

The pro shop page for this suggests using sellotape to remove the green film that is on the rack. I've tried this (only for a few minutes) and do not seem to be getting anywhere. Can any magic rack owners suggest other methods to remove the film or is it just a case of keep going with the tape until it comes off.
Rather chuffed it comes as a 2 part set (a 9 ball and different rack for 10 ball) but the 10 ball rack accomodates 9 ball setup. Not complaining.

I had a very hard time removing the tape and must admit for several months was not convenced there was any on it. I only conceded there was when it eventually flaked at one corner allowing me to peel it off. It still hasn't come off the 10 ball one yet.

Ok.... seeing this post prompted me to try again so I tried a piece of gaffer tape and it came off straight away :)

If that doesn't work try steaming the edge and then use gaffer tape.

Cheers for that Riggers. I'm glad it wasn't just me. At first I was concerned that my attempts to remove the film was scuffing the plastic but I kept working the corner of the 10 ball rack until I got the the tiniest of peel and it came off pretty quickly after that. Am I right in assuming that the 'magic rack' branding around the rack is part of the design or is there another layer of film to remove too?

lol, the film has been coming off mine recently and just thought it was coming to the end of its lifespan, and so been ploughing on with it. Never thought for one second I could just strip it off, lol

Dave is there any way you could put a suggestion forward to the magic rack guys?

I know they come as a set for 9 & 10 ball but it would be great if they sold them separately. i for one will only use them playing 10 ball (makes the game a bit silly in 9 ball IMO) and I have many friends that do the same. I have one friend who is on his 3rd set so has one 10 ball rack but 3 brand new 9 ball ones.

Also the 10 ball one does 9 and 10 anyway.

So if they could just supply them individually that would be brilliant, even at a slight proportionately increased cost.

Is the new stock still the transparent one or the black one I've been hearing about?
