The organizers tell me they will update the site every day after the rounds are complete. We just started two hours ago and so an update should occur no later than 8PM UAE time (so should be 4 PM our time?)

Yeah... i'm with Dazzla... I'd like to know who's in and why they got a spot, apart from the qualifiers that is... is this not being televised anywhere? ESPN or something like that?

Not the greatest of website's for a big tournament but after 5 minutes on the live scoring page it automatically updates moving to the next 2 matches but only 4 matches going on and they are:

    All 3pm matches

Ronnie Alcano vs Rafath Habib table 3
Hani Al Howri vs Joven Alba table 4
Ben Nunan vs Erik Hjorleifson table 5
Arif Allah vs Satoshi Kawabata table 6

Nothing on Kevin Smith and Darren Appleton as yet.

Just been looking at the tournament website -www.world8ballchampionship.com. No info about players but I was looking at the sponsorhip pages - the main sponsor (the tournament will be named after them) has to pay 1,000,000 Saudi Riyal, which converts to approx. $265,000. Looks as though the sponsor money that Shir mentioned is about right, assuming they have been able to sell their diamond, gold and silver sponsorships!

In relation to why players get chosen, all I know is that the guy representing Denmark qualified because he got to the quarters of the European Champs last year.
