mick will beat bowen,no danger
chilton will beat marsh, but marsh can win this match if rob doesnt play to his potential
england v wales - go for england just, why isnt wardy in this
mick v simon,go for mick in this one due to his experience and more consistent but simon will be a handful and no shock if he turns him over
all in all could be a great weekend for mick and the boys.
great matches these though and fair play team bbc for gettin it on

Simon chose not to play in the team event for 2 reasons (i) having to fork out extra money ie. £250 and (ii) cos he doesn't want to play Mick at all before the main event! Paul Bushnell was the main man in getting this on this end and Mick for the english lads and yes whatever the result(s) I am sure it will be a cracking weekend and great to have this type of event in South Wales. Cheers Striker!

regardless of the outcome all these boys are top draw pool players and on there day are awesome, just hope certain people try and spoil it and get into an england - wales argument(again).gets ever so boring, met all these lads and are all great people, good luck and live scoring would be appreciated(if possible). well done bushy again, have a few bows for me mate whilst watching some cracking pool

OK - so just a little re-run of the weekend:- First up was Chilton -v- Marsh with Marshy running out the winner by 15 frames to 13 having to dig deep after being 10-6 down. Onto Hill -v- Bowen: Mick got off to a flying start and was 5-0 up in about 20 minutes - and not much later the score was 10-3 in his favour - Bowen stages a mini-fightback to 12-8 but Mick is too strong and wins 15-9. Team Wales -v- Team England: Many thought this would be a walkover for the English lads but they never really got out of their starting blocks as Wales raced to a 5-1 lead, however they fought back to 8-8 only to see the Welsh take the next 5 frames on the bounce. In a race to 17 the English pulled the frame count back to 15-11 and then 16-14. The atmosphere was electric as Tom Cousins won the lag against Melling and cool as you like dished the frame to win the match for Team Wales 17-14. Mick Hill -v- Simon Ward: by this time the club was packed and Mick must have been exhausted after the marathon team match whereas Simon came to the table "fresh as a daisy" lol. Mick took the first frame but Simon is soon leading by 4 frames to 2 - however in a race to 20 there is a long way to go - at one point Simon was 15-11 up but to cut an exciting and long story short it was 4 hours frm when they started when Mick grasped an 18-17 lead at which time Simon went in off on the black so instead of 18-18 it was 19-17 in Mick's favour. A typical "machine" break and dish saw him finish off the match and win 20-17. Brilliant display by both players........ All in all a great weekend........and there is talk of a re-match in Jella's club so look out!!!! [ This message was edited by: textkitten on 2008-01-13 14:14 ]

Those types of incidents where you sacrifice 18-18 for 17-19 are typical of what happens against the top players. Unlucky, I think that match is close enough for a re-match but difficult to see Mick losing tbh.

I think you'r right there - it was a definite twitch from Si who said it was the only time in the match that he felt nervous and that was the price he paid!!! All down to experience - which we all know that Mick has in abundance - and which hopefully Simon and other guys will get themselves from more matches/weekends of this ilk!
