WPBL SEASON DELAYED

December 24, 2012, Las Vegas, Nevada

The World Professional Billiard League will have to delay the start of their season once more. Various unforeseen circumstances relating to the construction of the arena have emerged which were beyond the control of the WPBL. As with any construction project, all county, state and city regulations must be followed and all inspections must be passed. This new launch date will guarantee time to complete the construction of the building, pass all inspections and properly install and test the equipment.

The scale of this project is beyond anything ever attempted in billiards. Upon completion, the 13,000 sq ft broadcast facility and arena will be unprecedented within the industry. Players continue to practice with their teammates and remain encouraged for the start of the league. Chicago Rockets team captain Rodney Morris said “I realize the building and production have to be perfect. No sense starting and not having it look great. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. I’m behind the WPBL and support it 100%.”

The WPBL players and staff appreciate the continued encouragement they have received throughout the billiards community and ask for your patience during this short delay. WPBL President Larry Chiborak stated “We are working diligently with the contractors and municipalities to finalize the arena, and look forward to an outstanding inaugural season.”

This brief delay will not inhibit the WPBL season, as the entire 26 weeks will be played. The revised schedule will be posted on WPBL.TV. Please continue to follow the league for updates and announcements:

Nomination Process For WPA Artistic Pool Division Open Position!

Attention: All Interested Parties

Subject: Nominations to WPA Artistic Pool Division for vacant committee position

The WPA Artistic Pool Division is currently requesting and accepting nominations for their committee to fill the position of Sportive Relations / Player Liaison (North America).

Note: The term for this position will be in effect from the acceptance date of a nominee thru June 30, 2013, and then 2 - year terms thereafter, in accordance with the nomination process guidelines of the WPA APD.

Anyone and everyone not currently on the WPA APD is encouraged to consider this opportunity to become part of our committee, which is the recognized foundational entity / monitor for the sport of Artistic Pool worldwide under the WPA sport umbrella structure.

Those interested in becoming a nominee for this position should request / review the latest copy (12/23/12) of the WPA / WPA APD official guidelines for Artistic Pool. These govern the international framework for our sport in 130+ countries within the 6 continental federations to assure a unified and proper protocol for events and players, and to maintain sport stability.

·     Status (player, promoter, etc.) within your continental entity

Note: Please feel free to share any additional comments you may have on the overall sport movement for Artistic Pool in your own continental region and around the world.

All “nomination criteria” must be received no later than midnight of January 15, 2013. An email confirmation for receipt of information will be sent to the submitting party.

A decision by the WPA Artistic Pool Division will be made no later than January 25, 2013 on the person being accepted for this committee position with follow up notification to the accepted person and a confirming public release statement.
