Does anyone else get problems getting some of the images on Pro9 to display?
I'm currently at a friend's house and he has always had this problem - the dreaded red X's appearing where some of the images should be... He only gets this problem on a couple of websites!
Does anyone know how he can fix it?

I used to have the problem, I think it was my firewall, I had to change about the settings within the firewall.
If he has one, get him to check to see if the firewall is blocking certain features for the site.

Yep, if you switch off the firewall all the pictures appear - I forgot to mention that.
What exactly did you tweak?

In ZoneAlarm, you get all the websites, along with cookie controls, mobile codes, web bugs and private headers. I checked all of them for Pro9 and they eventually came up when I loaded up again, so I basically said allow to all the choices for Pro9, it made the images come up.

I have no such problems but I did get this all the time with both Zone Alarm and Norton. If you want a very good free firewall that's easy to configure check out Kerio Personal Firewall.

Zone Alarm is the best, it is doing it's job when it doesn't show the images from Pro9! All you need to do is configure it within the software and you can choose to display everything for the site, not a big deal. [ This message was edited by: Buckster_uk on 2006-05-03 09:51 ]

Why is it doing it's job by not displaying an image? Zone Alarm is dumb, over picky and notorious for causing problems with other programs. The day I got rid of it was the day my PC started running smoothly again. Unfortunately I then made another mistake by installing Norton which, although it does the job well, it's a major resource hog. So that led me to investigate more and get the opinion of some good techy gurus I've got to know around the net, which is where the Kerio recommendation came from. Best software I ever installed IMO. Most of my mates are now using it too. So, if you've not used it don't automatically assume that 'Zone alarm is best'. I've used both and would categorically say you are wrong! Well I totally disagree, I have not had one problem using Zone Alarm, it does not interfere at all from my experiences. You are of course entitled to your opinion though If you are looking for a good anti virus program, look for NOD32, it is fantastic.

What's wrong with AVG free - That's what I'm using and I've never had a problem with it.
I don't think I like the sound of Zone Alarm if it's default setting is to block images on a standard web site!

I agree with you about AVG free. It does the job very well indeed. I work for a large IT company and I know that a lot of my colleagues who know more about this than me use AVG. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2006-05-03 13:28 ]
