2017 promises to be a big year for BWPPA, both in terms of the tour and the wonderful fundraising going on on our behalf, so its nice to be able to try and give something back.
We have been contacted by a lady called Donna Coughlin, Community Connector @ Gwent Social Services, she has been trying to raise funds for a pub type 6ft pool table for a local care home that has several wheelchair users including a double amputee, they did have the promise of a table but could not raise the £280 to transport it from Scotland to Wales, so they are back to square one, as that one has gone.
Her role as a Community Connector is to help lonely/isolated people to reconnect with others through social activities and groups. She is currently supporting several Gentlemen living in an Extra Care Scheme, as they have complex physical disabilities which required 24 hour on call care and assistance. Having met with the Gentlemen, and speaking with them about what they feel they would benefit from the most, the unanimous reply was ‘a pool table!’. She has identified a suitable area large enough for a wheel chair to move around a pool table without problem, and feel that as this is a room that can be accessed at any time, the opportunity to meet together without the need for supervision or support is appealing to the group.
They are looking for a small (no bigger than 6ft) but sturdy table, as one of our Gentlemen is a double amputee and quite large, the table would need to be solid enough to take the weight of someone leaning onto it with fear of it moving or collapsing.
So i'm just putting it out there in the hope that
1) by some miracle someones knows someone or a pub with a table that is going unused in the wales area that could be used, and transported there at minimal cost.
2) to see if anyone can help in another way, by pointing me in the direction of someone of firm who wold be willing to donate or offer a reduced cost table.
3) if a gofundme page or something similar was set up, would people be willing to donate.
We have 100's of members on here, hopefully someone will be able to assist or point me in the right direction.
Thoughts below or my PM to me or text/call on 07736551771, email tonysouthern@msn.com
Yours in sport, and a happy new year from all at BWPPA.

I have some great news, Donna Marie Coughlin has contacted me to say that a local man has raised a further £100 which means we now have raised the £300 needed to get the table, thanks to all who took part and spread the word and thanks to John Hurst who sorted the table out and to Aslam Abubaker and his club mates for the offer of another table. When it's installed I will get Donna to send some pics etc.

Many thanks all and its nice to be able to give something back to the community, and thanks for everyones help over the years supporting BWPPA.

Yours in Sport
