A bit of ten ball going on with Strickland and Saez.
The break doesn't seem as free and easy as a nine ball one can be.

Hi all,
I noticed the traffic from your site today. It just so happens that the next match I had in the pipeline features your countryman Steve Knight v. Mario Cruz. Here is the direct link to it:

http://propoolvideo.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=43&Itemid=27

Also, about the Florida Tour 10-ball rules: breaking is from the box, rack your own, and the 10 on the break gets spotted.

Jorge

I mentioned 18 months ago on this very forum that the BPPPA should change to 10 ball because the "girl-pants, wing ball every time powder puff" break and i got shot down in flames!!!!

I really hope your 10 ball tour gets going Boyzi.

Just kidding mate, of course.

I know what you're saying, and you're right, the soft break is terrible, but I'd hate to lose the instantly recognisable trademark of nine-ball... The diamond shaped rack easily identifies and differentiates this game from other more pedestrian cue-sport games - instantly.

A glance at a ten-ball game could easily be mistaken for any other game, and purely from an aesthetic stance, the uniqueness of the diamond format has value.

There just needs to be a reward for the big break, which also has value at an aesthetic and media friendly level.

Changing the World Championship game isn't the answer - the tapped rack has a lot to answer for IMHO - it pandered to the players, but changed the game.

I agree with you Dave and everyone else on the aspects of the soft break, which just takes some of the character out of 9ball completely, I 1/2 blame Steve Davis on that one, for starting that stupid soft break trend, but then again, that wouldn't be quite fair on Steve because I'm sure that there was someone else that he saw using a softer break :), and so whoever that was, GET THEM INSTEAD!!!!!! :-D  :P

I would like to see there being a rule on all 9ball tours that eliminate that soft break, ballerina, I'm scared to hit the cueball, BS and have it that at least 4 ball must come up past the side pocket on the break, I remember in the APN Invatiotanla, last year, had the rule that 3 balls had to come up past the side pocket and of course, Earl was happy enough with that, but he wanted the rack to be moved up, so that the 9 would be on the spot, to eliminate thewing ball going in, but Pete WIlliams disagreed as well as the rest of us because we all know that Earl would know only too well about how to get the 1 in the side every time :) lol, Nice try Earl!!! :) lol

As reguards the idea of changing the WPC game, there should be more than just 1x discipline in the event, e.g. like the World All Around Championships, but only instead of there being just 3x events, there should be 5x events :)

Those 5 events should be, 8Ball, 9Ball, Straight Pool, Banks (15Ball) and One Pocket :), after all, the WPC, should be a test of abilit to see who's the best player and I think that it should be a test of truely all round ability :)

Willie

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE :)
