Hi everyone. I have a 7 week old baby boy (Oscar), who was born with Downs Syndrome. He has joined a local support group for children with Downs, who are trying to collect as many old mobile phones as possible (working or not, as long as they have battery) For every 187 mobiles received, they can get an iPad, loaded with special learning apps, for one of the children. If you have any old unwanted mobiles (you can ask around if you like!), please PM me for details of where to send them. Many thanks Tony [ This message was edited by: Administrator on 2014-07-11 22:51 ]

Tony, congratulations on the latest addition to your family... Oscar's a great looking baby. Lunny, you are an absolute superstar! Here's a pic of my 43 year old brother when he was working at the local Garden Centre. He plays a mean game of pool, but prefers English Pool despite years of nagging! Tony, can I share/gently spam your photo on Facebook? [ This message was edited by: Administrator on 2014-07-11 21:54 ]

Oh brilliant... I thought you became shy all of a sudden because I tested the link/code I sent you and it worked, but I know that my email programme DOES tend to "fix" code sometimes. I'll sort it now. Also, I've knocked out a simple banner that links to this forum thread and I've whacked it in our monthly charity rotation. (I add one banner for a different worthy cause/charity every month)... ...I think the English is a little awkward but it's always difficult to get it all to fit, and who knows, maybe that will catch people's attention?

Listen chaps, this has really struck a chord with me for obvious reasons.
The acuteness for people with Down's Syndrome can fall on a very broad scale, but it's been well acknowledged that a strong start with early learning can really help Down's kids make the most of their potential.
So please, even if you know you haven't got an old mobile anywhere - do what I'm doing - ask your friends and colleagues. There's plenty of us here... Let's see if we can make a difference!

Thanks Dave, you help means a lot, didn't know you had a brother with DS, but it's nice to see how well he is doing, I bet he kicks your butt at pool too!

I'll give this a bit of a push on Monday - there's not much point today as everyone is playing in tourneys, but Monday is a big day as everyone is checking the results etc.

For people who don't have the ability to PM Tony, you can send your phones to my home address and I'll truck them over to him. Big Dave Knight 61 All Saints Road Portsmouth Hampshire PO1 4NBWhen I've got a bunch of them, I'll take a group photo of all of them, so you can see that your phone made it to Tony! ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2014-07-14 09:35 ]

Dave, if Tony has got my PM and can confirm that they are going to meet the criteria, I can bring them to GB9 in a couple of weeks and give them to you there?

We've just changed our vehicle tracking systems at work, these are old mobile phones/trackers that have been retired and aren't worth a bean! I've been thinking of how to get rid of them and this is the absolute perfect opportunity!

Think phones have to be complete, with battery, working or not and color screen. Any donations will be great fully received. Thanks
