Dear pool-friends, currently i´m writing my master thesis and I need some input from your side. Interesting survey Oliver.
I think such a product would be useful at the right price. Personally, I think you should put less emphasis on the stance and more on concentrating on staying still and ensuring the cue goes through in a straight line.
Just like in golf, no two swings are the same so the key to being a good coach is putting the player in touch with their own action and completely understanding it. If your product helps users improve their knowledge of their own cue action then its a no brainer.
Price would be a big factor too... Most "top players" wouldnt need such a product IMO. You would be more aiming this at the club player looking to improve.
Would it sell? I doubt it. Because each action is individual its much easier for a person to spot minute flaws than a machine. Ronnie moves and shakes through the shot, but because he understands it, it doesnt matter...

Intriguing survey indeed. I agree entirely with The_Lunn. The complexities and subtleties of stroke production are so varied and personal that I would worry about convincing real students of the game as to its benefits. Foot placement alone when approaching the line of the shot is so subtle and based on feel for the correct line of the shot (this being only one example). Nonetheless, I'm sure your thesis will be a very interesting project. Hopefully any of us sceptics are way off and you are on to something massive

You are talking about O sullivan?  The questions you asked, are part of my survey, because the company which has allready got a shoe with sensors for medicine purpose. My part is to check out if this medicine product can be adapted to support a pool-sport-training. but i have to question a wide range, to show if it would be feasible and sellable kind regards oliver

Hopefully any of us sceptics are way off and you are on to something massive Thank you very much ... i second your statement it was my idea to check that because i´m a coach for youth players in vienna. i tried to develop a product which supports beginners. for the masterthesis its not important which results are displayed, but if the people like it and the price will be low maybe i try to develop this product with the company. many thanks for the feedback kind regards Oliver
