I'm going to try cycling again, for some much needed exercise.

Not sport but my new hobby and how I see my self relaxing in future is photography. Much more civilised, more family friendly and gets you out and about to some nice places.

Last year I started indoor 10m Olympic style air pistol shooting

January 2012 my daughter and myself went to the local air gun club to see if she would like indoor shooting. I did it some 20 years ago and we were looking for a sport that we could do together as I am a wheelchair user. Within weeks it became evident that she had a natural talent for pistol shooting.

Then things began to pick up pace - within months, at the age of 11, she had won the Durham and Cleveland junior county postal championship against kids up to 18 years old and won both our club junior and senior event trophies.

In October she was invited to join the Junior Great British Pistol Squad and most months we travel to Wolverhampton for training weekends.

To put her talent in context, she now shoots 350+ out of 400 points per set and she is fast approaching the 360 mark. The adult lady GB sent to the Olympics shot 359 in London last year. As you can see at 12 Emily is really showing promise.

The next big step is to get Emily on the national and international shooting event circuit.

So I think the Mole is almost retired and is now a roadie and only sponsor for my daughters shooting ambitions.

I must admit I really enjoy doing the old Dad thing and supporting your kid is the best hobby I’ve had.

BUT - Riley’s Darlington is reopening under new management so there might be life in the old dog yet!

But is you’re interested I shoot like CR@P and she kills me all the time on the range ;-(
