Just downloaded this and got error messages saying WARNING Preference data damaged, Restoring default user preferences. Then an error report to send to Microsoft, really hope this doesn't mean £20 down the drain! Anyone know what to do or had it themselves? [ This message was edited by: Majestic on 2012-08-16 19:51 ]

Why would it mean £20 down the drain... I think you can rest assured that Celeris are obviously a cut above the companies you are used to dealing with, and will do everything possible to sort out any problems you may experience. Drop Steve Chaplin from Celeris an email about this... vp4@celeris.com...I'm sure he'll be there to help!

Disable your anti-virus then it works fine, I had exactly the same error at first.

Or to be more precise, if you've already installed it, delete it completely, disable your anti-virus, then re-install, that seemed to work for me.

...I'm sure he'll be there to help! Got it working now!thought it may be money lost dave cos it looked like a one off download and expected the issue to be the computer! not a bad game, assume the gb9 players on there are just in national tour mode?

I'm glad you've got it sorted already, I sent an email to Steve Chaplin from Celeris about this and he replied almost immediately. Here's his reply... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "We have had some issues starting VP4 on some systems. Almost all of those have been fixed by one of 2 things, this is also on our support FAQ here: http://www.celeris.com/celeris_game_support_vp4_windows.html
This is a copy of those issues:
When I start Virtual Pool 4, it fails after I try to register. Restarting VP4, I get a Preference Data Damaged error. How do I fix this? Turn off your anti-virus, run Virtual Pool 4 and register it, then re-enable your anti-virus.
Virtual Pool 4 crashes on start up, you may also get the Preference Data Damaged message on restart There may be an issue with a DirectX dll. Download and install the DirectX: Microsoft DirectX installer

I had the error on the first install, I feared the worst but then everything worked fine and has ever since.
You will have got a serial number in the email. You can download again.

You have to play the game tons to get to the gb9 players!were on the pro tour national stage which is phase three of the career mode!unless you qualify before that.

I've posted a YouTube video on my blog of a quick run through of the game. Terrible play throughout, but check it out if you are thinking of buying. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INUUUwQIBmQ[ This message was edited by: mal_clarke on 2012-08-17 14:32 ]

I think will always struggle to get a realistic cuesport game, world championship snooker has to be the best but far too easy so I've stopped buying them full stop a alway feel let down by them
