"We are playing around with a new aiming interface. Instead of having the cue stick put in and being up close to the ball, aiming starts with no cue stick and back away, like you are standing up. This is more like RL and as you "aim" you are walking around positioning your body before you get down on the shot, also a better view of the table. By pressing A, you then get down on the shot and the cue stick appears. From there any fine tuning of the aim can be done along with any English or butt angle adjustments."

"Virtual Pool 4 I know everyone is wondering when the VP4 release date is. It should be sometime late this quarter. VP4 is stable and all our planned functionality is in and working other than finishing up Pro Tour Career. There is still some play test left but we have done all the basic functional testing and worked off all the bugs."

Yes, but not yet apparently. It's the PC version that will be ready soon.

Amazing... Not only does VP4 have adjustable widths on the pockets... Not only does VP4 have different levels of clean/dirty balls to select... (This is awesome by the way, as rumour has it that these dirty balls will actually throw more!!!)But they've also got the Pro Tour brackets being developed now... (These are just dummy names so far - but I guess it won't be long before we see!!!)...This was always stated as being one of the last things to be programmed, so along with a bit of play-testing, we're really getting close to the launch date I reckon! ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor

I would not get your hopes up about a XBox/PS3 console release. It is more likely to be Iphone App (done before) and Ipad.

Out of interest, does any one play this online? I'm totally addicted to it. Would love to know if there are others out there and if so, what name do you play under?

I think you'll find that mal-clarke is currently playing in the VP3 online World Pool Championships and he's into the last 16 of the 9 ball is that right Mal?
Good luck mate.

Yeah. I've been hammered with a terrible draw against a really good player called Tuxhomer who missed one ball in 20 racks! I'm well-off to be only 9-11 down in a race to 17. It's double elim. It's last 32. Get yourself onto gamespy expertfluke I'm mal255 on there. Also check out my VP3 vlog I'll pm you the link

Here's the latest official tidbit from the creators of VP4... "Virtual Pool 4 allows different methods of handicapping which are game specific. Games with ball goals, One Pocket, Banks, etc., can be handicapped by a ball goal difference. This is a typical way to handicap in RL. The screen shot shows a One Pocket setup with the match being played 10-8, sdc is going to 10, boots goes to 8." You can view the full size image here - use your "back" button to return to Pro9. What do you think about that? [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2012-05-04 09:24 ]

OK... VP4 is getting REALLY close to launch now, this is your last chance... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We still need more players for Pro Tour mode. We have been taking Pros and Top Amateurs. But I'm going to open it up to some of you numpties too as we don't have enough players and I'm using a lot of the Hustler Career profiles. To sign up go here: http://www.celeris.com/celeris_player_signup.html
You must do the steps shown on the left panel, no exceptions, only complete information, completed signed release, proper picture at a minimum.
If you don't provide a profile write-up we will do it but it is going to be something like "This numptie can't make a ball, if you draw him it is just like getting a BYE." This may be true for Hugh, but if any of you guys have some game, better to provide at least some style information, and things like wins a lot of local pub 8-ball tournaments. Note that interesting tidbits are also nice, see the example for Max Eberle.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is going to be our last chance to be immortalised in the World's very best pool computer game ever! Do it now or regret a missed opportunity forever! ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2012-06-14 09:40 ]

If anyone wants to see this at the next GB9 then give me a shout. I should have plenty of free time to play VP4 as I usually exit fairly early on.

Jury is out. The new camera angles and jump shots look cool but the shadows on the balls look too small. It makes look very fake and not as good as the previous virtual pools. Hopefully this will change before the release.

This launch date is for the PC... We can ask about the Mac version for you... Give me a day or two and we should have an answer.
