Hello,
Well, if I'm reading it correctly, and I'm pretty sure I am, Thorsten Hohmann has just run 125 and out on Hudji See!

http://www.europeanpoolchampionships.com/scoresheet.asp?MatchCode=MS-081

I guess we all knew he had to be the favourite in this discipline but that's some performance against a very good opponent!!

Thanks,
Chris.

Look at this result between Roman Hybler and Ralf Souquet
http://www.europeanpoolchampionships.com/scoresheet.asp?MatchCode=MS-096

How is it possble for Souquet to be on a minus?
Forgive my ignorance.....

Anyway, some scoreline!

Hello bruno,
If you foul in straight pool you lose one point so Ralf must have fouled twice. If you foul three times in a row you lose 18 points.

Not trying to make myself out to be an expert but that I do know!!

Hope this helps,
Chris.

Thanks for that mate.
I thought it was something like that.

Hybler must have played a blinder if that was the score!

Daryl

Technically, Chrisc is right - you lose a TOTAL of 18 points for 3 fouls in a row in Staight Pool. One point each for your first 2 fouls then, on the 3rd foul, one point for the foul itself and another 15 for 3 in a row.

And Bruno, when a player fouls, the penalty is taken off of their own score - not added to their opponent's like in Snooker - so minus scores occur from time-to-time. Classic one that I can remember is from the 2000 US Open Straight Pool Championships where Jim Rempe beat George SanSouci (sp?) 150 to -12. I've yet to see this match, but apparently there was a pretty major safety battle and Ginky was forced to take the 3rd scratch.

Best wishes

Hello,
No probs!!
I definitely agree with you, Hybler must have played amazingly. As I write now Ralf is in serious trouble in his losers side match too- he could be going out before the single elimination stages have even started.

Chris.

EDIT: To Dazzler and theCardman- thanks for straightening me out there. I was watching the Mike Sigel "Run-out straight pool" video last night and he runs through a few rules at the beginning and it definitely says 18 points for 3 fouls there. That's where I got it from!!

Wow, Ralf Souquet is out! That's got to be the biggest shock of the tournament so far hasn't it. You can't call this a shock as such but what a performance by Vilmos Foldes against Niels Feijen too

http://www.europeanpoolchampionships.com/scoresheet.asp?MatchCode=MS-174

Look at the run to finish it!!

Chris.

Hi again,
Looks from this

http://www.europeanpoolchampionships.com/scoresheet.asp?MatchCode=MS-209

as though Oliver Ortmann ran 125 and out in his match. Awesome as usual!

Niels ran 113 from the break against Thorsten Hohmann too.

Chris.
