Just read Millsy report on the Euro-Tour and their was an announcement saying that from now on all top 32 players would go straight to Saturday's last 64.
I think this is a great idea but how are the rankings going to work? If the ranking system stays the same it will be extremely difficult for lower ranked players to move into the top 32.
Will it be done like in professional snooker whereby if the seeded players lose their first match they only get half the ranking points given for that particular round? I am probably going to start playing on the Euro-Tour next year and I just wanted to know if the ranking system is going to change.

As a fan, im delighted the 'big guns' will be in the last 64 each time. However I agree, some thing must be done to help the up and coming talent.

Just for clarification, the Euro Tour is trying this on a trial basis with only 3 main events, that being Czech Republic, Holland and Spain based on past larger than expected participants wanting to enter. The trial will start with Czech Republic, and if it works out for the Tour successfully, then they will do the same for the other 2 mentioned large events. The other Open events; Italian, Geman, Austrian et al was not mentioned or included in their briefing to the audience.
As far as ranking points are concerned, I'm sure they've thought about this as well and hopefully they'll let us know via their newsletter or email.
Hope this helps

Guilotine (interesting to know why he spells it like that?) is right in saying that the new system is on trial and much depends on how it works in Liberec before applying it to the Netherlands and Spain. What has not been said is that on the Saturday there will be a double elimination tournament between the top 32 from the previous two days plus the top 32 from the Eurotour rankings. The final 8 will play off on Sunday morning which means that if you have any thoughts of going so far, you had better book your return flights for Sunday evening.
