If you are really bored and loaded with money, book flight and hotel and come to Norway for the funniest 9-ball tournament. Max 64 players, doublecup race to 4 with handicap 0-2. Entryfee 30 £. Since it is organized at the most popular Sportsbar in Oslo, with only 3 tables it gives you plenty of time to drink cheap beer in the bar. Start 11 in the morning, quarterfinal at 8 in the evening. When 8 players left there will be an auction so the players who are out of the tournament can buy a second chance against a player of their own choice. Last year one of Norways best players Raymond Hauge was one of the 8 remaining players, and one player (hcp 2) paid 230 £ to play him in a race to 5 for a spot in the quarterfinal. Raymond lost In total 1600 £ in entry from the auction, to the pricemoney. The pricemoney is 2 000 £ in first price, 1 000 £ in second price. The best of all: Every player needs to drink beers, and from the semifinals each player need to drink shots. Hcp 0 players = 1 shot Hcp 1 players = 2 shot Hcp 2 players = 3 shot To make the tournament even more funnier, there will be 3 strippers trying to confuse the players as much as they can from the quarterfinals and out! You can't miss this tournament, can you? I'll send pictures to you! [ This message was edited by: RugRat on 2006-11-15 18:18 ]

I've actually started to think about it yesterday! If anyone gives me some phonenumber/emails to great venues in London who could like to be host, please pm me.
(Must be a small place, with 4 - 6 tables so there is much crowd on the matches)

Elbow rooms would be ideal there;s a few of them around London. Tend to have 6-8 tables.

Once again the Sportsbar Open was a great success, and once again it ended up being the tournament that few will remember! Because The Sportsbar only has 3 pooltables, we ran 3 single-elimination cups of 16 players each, with the 2 best proceeding to another singlecup and round 2. There were only 37 players in this year so there were some empty spots in all singlecups, so if you played early and lost, you could get a rebuy for 25 , so all singlecups were filled in the end Don't know why it was so few entrants this year, but guess it was because it was arranged a little late in the year this time. However, with the discount on beer and shots all of them had a good time! The entryfee of 35 gave each player who didn't proceed to round 2 from the sinclecups a spot in a one-rack tournament of 15-ball. (9-ball rules, the one who pocket 15 wins, 5 fouls in a row = loss). The 2 best players from the one-rack tournament did also proceed to round 2. So in round 2 we had 8 players in a singlecup for 16 players, so with 8 empty spots we started the auction. All 8 players were waiting for opponents, and those who paid the most got the chance to meet them. One player got "sold" for 350 , and the cheapest was sold for 150 . In total those 8 empty spots in round 2 was sold for 2000 . At this time one player started to get really drunk (last year the security guards made him leave 3 times during the day, so he could get air and cool off), and he punched one of the owners of Sportsbar in the head so he started to bleed (smart move) Outside I was trying to talk some sense to him, and help him get his cellphone etc. Ended with him doing a Karate Kid move kicking me in the head before punching me. Then he started to cry. Of course he will be the first one to get the invitation next year After the kick in the head I had to let someone else run the end of the tournament, since I was feeling a bit dizzy. Back to the games: In round 2 the strippes arrived and did everything they could to distract the players for those 5 hours round 2 lasted, and they were successful in their job! In the final (race to 4) Lars Harald was 3 - 2 up and had the easiest 9-ball ever, and missed it by a mile thanks to the strippers. Ended with him losing 4 - 3 and receving 1000 instead of 2500 , which was the first price... In the final regular customers started to arrive to the place, and the match attracted a lot of spectators (or was it the strippers and not the match?). Some spectators was loudly convinced that the winner had to be gay for making those balls with the strippers touching him when shooting The winner was almost knocked down by other players at the start of the tournament because he didn't drink enough. In the end he ended up drunk he too It may looks like it was a lot of temper in this tournament this time, but it wasn't. 99 % of the time it was a great party and lots of laugh! Results: 1. Rune Bratbergsengen 2500 2. Lars Harald Riiber 1000 3. Line Kjψrsvik 200 3. Henrik Hagen 200 Hope to see you all in Oslo in January folks PS: If anyone wonder why I write this so early on a Sunday morning it is because I just woke up at my office on ElbowRoom. Don't ask me how I got here... If you guys still wants this partytournament to be run in England too, just let me know ----------------- The bangers consider me a pro - The pros consider me a banger roydfish.blogspot.com [ This message was edited by: RugRat on 2006-12-17 06:54 ]

Didn't mention the rules:
1. If you complained on the dirty balls, the cloths that has never been cleaned or the not levelled tables you lost your match. (The final table: If you tried to make a soft shot in the corner pocket the cueball could end up in the other corner pocket...)
2. You SHOULD do anything you could to distract your opponent as long as you didn't touch either balls or your opponent, and he/she could see both the cueball, the object ball and the pocket he/she was aiming at.
Great rules!!!
