Wow! I think this could be the beginning of the end for me! The Euro tour looks cheaper all the time! I'm in shock! P.S. in case you don't know what I'm on about. almost every event next year is in Manchester, the north of England. I live in the south! ----------------- [ This message was edited by: Shooter on 2006-11-14 09:25 ]

I thought the BPPPA was a national tour, not a Manchester one? What happened to London and the south? This has to be a bad joke!

I guess if you read Ted's statement you would answer your own questions.

Yes Jon, i got an email from Ted the same as you will have done. It makes a change for me not to be traveling too far...(about 60 miles)....but for most players its not the best news. I understand where Ted is coming from here though.....he says in the email that Rileys are no longer giving him Sponsorship money to hold his events at there clubs.....i would imagine that this means that he has to cut down on his own exs......and to be fair, Manchester is one of the best clubs in the country, and its reasonably central for everyone. Now that the British open is confirmed, at least we have something to aim for ..... plus, on the calender there is a "Simonis Classic" which is to be confirmed yet....but Ted seems to be really making an effort here. The British Open could be the break that pool needs in this country....lets hope that it continues from there and grows and grows. There are a few negatives about this news, but i think that the positives out-weigh these. Im sure Ted will be giving a speech regarding all of this at the weekend. -----------------

I agree with Dazzler. Ted is really doing a good job for us here in difficult circumstances. It was a real blow when Riley's announced only recently they were withdrawing sponsorship and I know Ted has had to work tirelessly to overcome this setback. There is obviously a lot more to do but I think Ted should be congratulated for a good short term solution and lots of positive news, such as the UK 9 Ball Championship and the sponsorship deal with Dynamic.
This is a critical time for the game in the UK with lots of exciting possibilities ahead but it's only going to happen if we, the players, do our bit and get behind the tours we have here.

Also on there you will see some tba's against them and I do believe Ted is trying to arrange venues in or towards the south of England for you so you have to be patient and wait and see on this before you can say anything, as it has been said Ted has lost the sponsorship with Rileys and has put a lot of hard work into getting other deals and keeping this tour going successfully just for you guys so at least for this season say well done Ted and thanks. Dazzler I agree with you none of these players from down in thou south never complained when most of the events were in there area...

I've got to agree with Dazzler here. OK the withdrawal of support by Rileys is obviously a negative aspect but there are also positives in this, and Ted seems to be trying his hardest to ensure a viable tour for us.
To be honest I'm not sure how many players the cetralised nature of the coming season will put off. It will be interesting to see where the to be announced venues will be if not in Rileys clubs.
Let's not be too hasty to kill the goose that laid the proverbial golden egg.
Regards,
RT

I agree - It's a shame about Rileys but there's ways around it I'm sure. We need to support it. It's times like this when a tour finds out who it's real pool players are. Besides Manchester is easy enough to get to.
But Dazzler is right when he suggests calling it 'MPPPA' - LOL Brilliant!

I think the southerners should remember they've had it much better than us northerners in previous years. For example, if you lived in London last year, attended all 13 events and booked a hotel if over 100 miles away you would have travelled 1431 miles, which is an average of 110 miles per event and booked 6 hotels. For Dazzler in Blackpool you would have travelled 2392 miles, which is an average of 184 miles per event and booked 10 hotels. If all 13 events this year are in Manchester (I know they won't be but just suppose they are) the Londoner will travel an average of 199 miles and book 12 hotels - not much more than Dazzler last year.
