Assuming EPT needs to stick to Riley's for this event, my vote would go to Colchester. Great club, loads of tables, decent condition, great town!!! :o)-

I agree, Colchester. However, Daryl has said that he does like the layout of Solihull and it's central location and easy parking is a big bonus too.

If these tables were to be properly overhalled and some curtains or blinds installed on the windows this club would be ideal for the EPT and many other future events. Let's hope Mark & Daryl can kick Rileys into action.

Having spoken to both Daryl and Rileys over the weekend, it sounds like the majority of tables will be reconditioned (ie reclothed and recushioned) in time for the next EPT event. The window issue has also been raised and hopefully something can be done about the glare.

I agree with Daryl about the club being absolutely ideal for an EPT event. Plenty of seating and the table layout is superb.

It's just the issue of the table condition and the huge window that need to be addressed. If these things are sorted out then you would be hard pushed to find a better venue.

but poeple have now got the problem in their head that solihull is not up to scratch and blame the club for them losing which might make them not want to go back there and play again

i honestly think the best thing mark and daryl can do is choose another venue for now and go back next year when most players have calmed down

What? Can't agree with that I'm afraid. This is potentially a good venue ideally located and if Rileys can sort out the playing conditions I'm sure all the players would be very happy to go back there.

Well said stox.

I'm witht e majority on this, It's stupid to change a venue now, when the club must have a decent layout for it to be chosen for both BPPPA & EPT Events :)

It's mostly a case of the staff not being properly educated on how the tables should be kept and maintained and the lack of player knowledge in the clubs that don't have regular pro's playing there, hurts the fairness and oppertunity for a great tournament even more.

now I can say that Sollihull's current table's condition, seems to be very familiar with a few clubs over here, but I'm very glad and proud to say that Club 9, doesn't have the problem of poor tables because I personally see to it, that the tables are properly cleaned and well looked after, by the request of the owners :)

I am glad that the riley's club will be making an effort for the EPT and lets just hope that they will refurbish all of their tables and not just a few :)

I was just wondering, how many tables exactly has the room in Solihull got? :)

Willie

Some of the tables at Colchester were a bit ropey ,parking was a nightmare and not very central!!
I thought the table conditions at Stafford were good, great air con system ,nice staff plenty of parking and good location!! but may not have enough tables and the few tables in the window would need sorting!!

Not taking into consideration the tables, Solihull is a fantastic club.

Private parking, great club layout and a superb hotel 800 metres away with its own Carvery.

If Daryl and the EPT can do something with the tables, it should be an awesome weekend in October!

I have spoken to the regional manager for Rileys Solihull. We had a very long discusion about the tables, and also the window issue.
The outcome of the conversation was very positive and i must say that he was very understanding.

So, the next EPT event WILL be at Solihull, and i am very confident that all the players will be extremely happy with the conditions.
