danny luton roy kimberley matt duffy karl read
zagreb is like watching an episode of life on mars but with ipods and iphones !
half of it is concrete tower blocks that look so old east european, and half is rebuilt and modern, strange really but friendly people, and westinn hotel is 5* but should be at 150 euros per night for a twin b&b, we must be the only country that does not pay for its players hotels !! everyone else is so shocked when we tell them that, most have federation or government funding to pay for flights and fees and hotels (some even get spends for food and drink!!) just been out for a meal, food was shocking but beer not bad at 2 euros, will take some pics tomorrow and send them to you dave

Zagreb - wow, beautiful place! went for a mexican last night, massive meal and two drinks, just under 10 euros! great value and great food...
people really nice, Hotel is top notch but as boys pointed out - it should be! -
I am fortunate enough to be doing some commentary whilst here, just finished the first day with a 2 hour 50 minute Souquet match, race to 125! Now us brits dont like straight pool at the best of times - try commentating on it for 3 hours in a very warm commentary box!! lol :/
still, start playing tomorrow in the 10 ball so be nice to hit some balls..... didnt even think there would be a thread on here with only myself, Daz, Karl, danny luton, roy kimberley, matt duffy & karl read here. nice to see a few people maybe interested in how were doing...
Set up is usual stuff for Euro champs, best in the world!
Oz - will keep people updated if interested......

I've added some photos by Beth on the front page article for this event. http://www.pro9.co.uk/html/article.php?sid=1257Two of the images are "clickable" and you get a very big zoom on them... Make sure you have a go because there are some hidden gems in the larger images photos that you won't be able to see in the "unzoomed" versions like... 1. Oz can be seen in the commentary booth. 2. Jasmin Ouschan can be see watching her countryman playing. 3. The "Franch" sponsor logo design is a complete Coca-Cola rip off! 4. A girl wearing a massive pair of headphones while playing. Let me know if you spot anything else, OK? [ This message was edited by: Administrator on 2010-03-19 08:30 ]

It looks to me that it is rather Kat Jensen watching at Niels playing Martin Kempter than Jasmin Ouschan. billbOK.......... swiss precision [ This message was edited by: billbOK on 2010-03-19 09:00 ]

All in all the setup this year is one of the best I've attended. The venue lighting is good and tables look as good as ever. Really looking forward to this one.
Thanks for the support at home.

Thanks for the support at home. I notice there are no lights above the tables as we had for GB9 yet you say the venue lighting is good. So the ambient lighting is ok is it? This is interesting for us as we have a bit of a conundrum with the hanging of our lighting in one of the venues but the ambient lighting seems quite good. We believed players would not be happy with that? [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2010-03-19 12:02 ]

dont be fooled Lee, just because there are no immediate lights above the table does not mean that they are not there! lol They did in fact fit lights on the ceiling that are big and powerfull. wherever lighting was not great they put them up - a bit like GB9 they were wheeling some guy around on the room on a lift/crane device putting them up. I actually took a pic of this.... Big D, i will send it too you... As for the lights at GB9, they were great - please continue to try and fit them if you can... OK Craig I had another look at this picture: http://www.pro9.co.uk/html/gallery/gallery/EPBF/DSC_8650.jpgWhen I zoom in I can see a few halogen spot lights fitted here and there. Is that what you mean? If you are saying these were acceptable something like this may be a fall back option where the ceiling in a venue is unable to take the weight of our lights. Was there at least one of these per table as it certainly does look that way in that picture. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2010-03-19 13:27 ]
