Just got back from playing in the tournament and I will have to say what a fantastic tournament and a great weekends pool. The event was run brilliantly by Mark and Daryl and I cannot praise them enough for their efforts over the weekend, amazing to think that this is the first time they have hosted and run an event!

This event clearly shows that this tour is the future for pool in the UK and with the management in place I think we can see some special things in the future. The event attracted some of the best players in Europe: Vincent Facquet, Darren Appleton, Rico Diks plus many more including a lot of IPT tour players. I think this is the strongest field we have ever seen for a UK pool event and the fact that the EPT can attract these players shows what a fantastic tour this is going to be.

Over the weekend there were some new ideas that have never be seen before in a UK pool event:

1. FLYERS FOR PLAYERS WHO DIDN'T QUALIFY
2. SPECIFIC MATCH TIMES FOR EVERY MATCH
3. RAFFLES FEATURING BIG PRIZES INCLUDING A £300 PREDATOR CUE
4. ALTERNATE BREAKS
5. SINGLE ELIMINATION (SHORTENING MATCH TIMES)
6. GUARANTEED PRIZE FUNDS
7. ALL QUALIFIERS ON MONEY!!
8. OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY IN A IPT QUALIFIER

I just want to say a big thankyou to Daryl and Mark for starting this tour and I cannot wait for the next event. Any players who decided not to go to this event, I urge you to reconsider (you will not be disappointed) and I hope to see you all in Harrow!

Mark Hopgood

That's a pretty good summary cusack_147. I'd have loved the event even more if I hadn't played like a ******. That's the reason I've not been there for the flyer today. I decided my time would be better spent with 8 hours on the practice table since my wife was not expecting me home.

The final line up is no surprise to me at all. Daz was nailed on for me and always the favourite for this event; then I'd have chosen from Mark Gray and Daryl .

I hope Daz wins to make up (just a little) for the World English 8 ball final and also to cement his reputation as the best 8 ball player in the UK.

Go Dyno!

...And just after posting that Daz texted me to say he lost 10-3. I'm sorry for Daz but have to say that mark Gray is so consistent these days it's no surprise he did so well. Congratulations Mark.

Cheers For that Cusack... It was a little nerveracking first thing during the draw but after that you guys helped it run smoothly, Daryl was more nervous about speaking into the Mike than anything (whoops!! sorry Daryl), and yes as you said what a fantastic field and turn-out for the first event it even surprised us to be honest but know it can only get bigger and better, a big congrats to Mark Gray for winning not only the event but along with his winnings he gets a spot for his chance on the IPT, A big thanks also to you Mr Peach for asking me to run this tour with you enjoyed it very much (except the part when you beat me 10-2), look forward to seeing you all again in Harrow in August and many more who did not play in Manchester and missed an unbelievable event....

Hi guys and gals, this weekend was a brilliant success. Im pretty sure everyone enjoyed it, and the whole thing ran very smoothly and more or less to schedule.

We have big, big plans for the EPT, and the future is looking very bright indeed.

I would like to thank all the players that took part in the event, we had players from France, Spain, Scotland Ireland, Wales, as well as a whole host of English.

My other thankyou's go to Mark Mills for putting an unbelievable amount of his time into this.
Mark Segal and Mikey Keshish from UK sports management ltd for backing the EPT and myself.
The big man, Dave Knight for coming on board the EPT train.
And last but not least, our sponsors, Aramith, Predator, and Simonis for believing in the EPT.

D4RYL.

p.s The empire pool tour website will be updated by the end of today, with reports, pictures, rankings, and anything else with relation to the Manchester Open.

Seriously though, thanks to Daryl, Mark and UK Sports Management for a quality event.

Thanks also to Ted Bristow for running the referees course - very interesting, definately looking forward to officiating some matches in the future.

I was routing for Daz this weekend unlucky in the final mate seems by the report on the final mark didn't give ya look in plus a killer when you come up 'dry' on your break and he is good form. Unlucky Darren!!!

Top class field this weekend loved every minute of it spot on venue and the players were all very friendly and took time to chat to ya which made all the better. Thanks Daryl, Riley's and UK sports Management team. Looking forward to Harrow in August.
