I thought that Imran had been given a place????

If not then i think that Darkside should represent the UK as i'm sure he would liven up the rest of the Euro team!!!!

Even a plasticine man is more entertaining than Souquet lol

I think we need Imran in the team or Daryl. The problem with Mathcroom is that they always have the same nucleus of players in the U.S team i.e Archer,Morris and Strickland whereas the European is always muddled around. Whats the point in it now?

I think the team looks good so far. Ralph is a great captain, great player and great ambassador for the sport. Great news that Neils has made the team after a very consistent season of results from him. Stepanov has obviously deserved his place and we'll all be interested to see how he gets on in that high pressure scenario. And you feel the competition needs a big name to attract the ratings and Tony gives you that along with his exciting style of play that's so suited to TV. So all in all the first 4 get my vote.

For the next 2 spots I'd probably look for 2 from Alcaide, Majid, Engert and Chamat.

Mosconi Cup isn't the Mosconi Cup without Chamat in the European team for me.

When you think it's only a 5 man team and the selection is from the whole of Europe, there are going to be some disappointed players/fans naturally as they would like to see their favourites playing.

I think it's sentimental that some Pro9 posters automatically assume a British player must be selected in the team and I understand why they think this way but it's not a given certainty that one must be included.

Matchroom Sport have a tough job and they select players as they see fit with only the Euro Tour No1 (Stepanov) being a definite selection.

Souquet - great player, good captain, inspirational and solid team player
Stepanov - Euro Tour No1
Drago - very good year at various competitions
Feijn - very good year at various competitions

I don't think anyone can fault their 1st 4 selections, the 5th one will be very difficult to pick, with many great players knocking on the door.

We should all get behind the team regardless of who is the 5th player.

Have they picked Drago for his recent performances or for his personality and fun factor?

I think it will be a bit of both.

Don't know why I thought it was 6 players  But I agree completely with Devil. I too would like to see Marcus in the side but I guess there are so many to choose from. If Imran wins in Switzerland he's surely nailed on or are they going to pick the highest placed european from the worlds? If so maybe Dyno or Daryl still has a chance after all.

Whatever happens I think the yanks are in for a beating this year on their own soil.

I'm sure they leave it until after the WPC and then make their choice.

David Alcaide was selected last year for his great performance at the WPC (narrowly losing in last 16).

Never much mentioned about the Euro Tour No2 ranked player (from UK)..........surely he must be in with a shout?

well if you think about it, if daryl gets far enough in the swiss euro tour he could leapfrog both Jonni and Stepanov and become the euro no.1. Surely he would then be in with a shout
