I would like to give a big thank you to RILEYS for all the help they have given us in all the event we have had.
I dont think anyone appreciates, as much as we should, for all the help they have given us in the past. Please take this as opportunity to thank RILEYS for their support.

YAY!!! Thank you Mr Riley for sponsoring Pro9 too! Hey, that's a thought, was there a Mr Riley? Does anyone know? Actually, another thought... Would anyone be interested if I could get an interview someone from Rileys head office? ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2007-09-24 15:11 ]

Yep, have visited so many of their clubs now and have nothing but praise. Solihull, Barnsley, Stretford, Victoria, Nottingham etc. etc. Our club is sponsoring another great event planned for December and go out of their way to accomodate Shirley's plans for the event to make it a success and a good day for everyone. Unfortunately, there have been occassions in the past where Rileys clubs and the staff have not been given the respect they deserve from some of our players. Some have more than deserved it though, the attitude of some managers and staff towards pool players who would rather play pool than spend lots of money getting drunk etc has been less than satisfactory in some clubs. Lets not forget the state of some clubs too. Yes, there are an increasing number of clubs who are being professional with their playing conditions and attitudes but there are still a number out there who couldn't give a toss

^^^ I wonder if people might reconsider the content of the above post if they reflected on the fact that yesterday two moderately sized events were on the receiving end of approximately £3,000 worth of free table time. (If you don't think that's a significant amount, try paying for those tables out of yesterday's prize funds). Perhaps the fact that this website's very existence is partly funded by the revenue generated from Rileys advertising might be considered? (Revenue that could be jeopardised by comments like the above). Or maybe that the new UK tour will rely heavily on similar sponsorship in kind, cash and table time from one of the very few national sponsors of pool in the UK? I'm not blaming the above poster, or trying to single out anyone, but I guess I am saying that negative comments won't help our cause in the slightest. Threads like these attract a lot of positive comments in the US.... They make me (and I guess a fair amount of you too) feel uncomfortably sycophantic, but the fact remains that we HAVE to start treating our sponsors more sympathetically if we want to gain their trust, respect and I suspect most importantly FOR ALL OF US... Their cash!!! Would YOU give money to a website that had negative comments about you on it? Would YOU sponsor a tour if the players openly badmouthed you in public forum? This website has got a hefty public relations job to do, erasing a negative past, and building a strong and positive relationship with a company that is potentially Europe's largest "in-industry" sponsor, that's why this thread is called " THANK YOU RILEYS". ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2007-09-24 17:18 ]

Well said BIG DAVE!!!!
Forget the negative things about RILEYS. £3000 worth of free light (IN ONE DAY) is one of many things that we should be thankful for.

Absolutely right Dave. If you have a comment to make about a club, it's facilities or it's staff or maybe a suggestion for improvement that's fine... talk to the managers and staff. But this is not the place for it for the reasons Dave stated. Also anyone joining GB9BT who has a bad word to say in public about any of our sponsors will be banned from the tour, period! No questions because you are ultimately damaging things for the rest of us. This is just a general comment not directed at any individuals who may have posted here by the way.... just saying how I see it and how it will be for tour members. My Name is Chris Billings I personally have Known the people in Rileys and before they was known as Rileys, I think they should be given credit were it is due. Thay Have over a 160 clubs in this country. They sponcer different tours Comptitions by giving free lights, free merchantise and sometimes free membership to all 160 clubs you have to think to yourself what do we give back to the clubs we are members of. So before you start think of ways on how we can repay back the clubs we are members of.
Black ref...................Saying a big big THANK YOU to Rileys Victoria Manager and staff for Sunday.

Totally agree, Rileys have been a saviour really. If it wasn't for them I could still be down some pub getting 2 games of small ball 8 ball every week. I also can avoid the indignity of arguing over who is next to play on 'winner stays on' with a drunk who's put 5 sets of coins down.
St Albans Rileys has been top notch and the staff brilliant. Comps and leagues going on all the time. It gets good support.
I laugh when people complain about the tables. Do people expect Hackey Marshes to be like playing at old trafford? Choppers damage tables not Rileys.
Long live rileys!!

Rileys has been my 'Grace land' for a good number of years now, and even though they only took over at my local club about 10 years ago, the standard of the tabbles, staff and general apearance of the club has drastically increased. I love Rileys and yes, ont he odd occasion you may get a duff rail, funny roll, but at the end of the day they are the biggest chain of pool clubs in the UK and i know that if not for Rileys, i would not be playing pool, mainly because there would be nowhere to play.
Ads.........bigging up Rileys

Totally agree.......when i was running and organising the EPT, Riley's were great....from top of the country down to the bottom!.....very helpful, very communitive, and they did everything posible at the venues to make the events as good as they could be. It was a shame the the EPT had to end, but Riley's played a massive part in the EPT while it was here and i thank them personally for that. Dazzler.....top thread -----------------

Darkside....he ate all the pies....LOL
Seriously, Rileys deserve credit for a lot of things in UK pool. Not just with the GB9BT, but for a lot of local events/leagues as well. I co-run our league in Aberdeen and if it wasn't for Riley's there wouldn't be a league. We get 4 free tables for as long as we need them for.
Long may it continue......
