Almost 24 hours have pssed since this news was posted on Pro 9 and I am surprised that so far there has been no comment.
It is clear to me unless I have got everything wrong, that this is the end of the Eurotour as we know it, does nobody have anything to say about that?
One thing that makes me wonder is that according to the statement there will be 5 qualifying events in Europe which have to be played by December 31st 2007, how on earth are they going to organise them with such a short timescale.

I'm surprised there are no more comments about the proposed "World Tour" also.
The press release by the WPA is vague but nothing in pool surprises me.
No prize breakdown. No finals venue confirmed. No finals date confirmed. No qualifier dates/locations confirmed.
Q) Who are the 8 wildcards and how are they chosen?
Q) Does each promoter pay for the spots and then possibly make/lose money off the qualifiers?
And as Peter says, this has to be completed before end Dec 2007! There aren't many dates left for 2007 as it is......
No one will enter an event for $200 unless the full tournament details are disclosed, that's a basic requirement for running a successful event.......and they will need to make it worthwhile for the far travelled players.

Peter, according to the WPA calendar, the Euro Tour have dates penciled in for 2008 & 2009.
I would very much doubt the organisers would let the Euro Tour fade away after building it up so well over the years.

Wouldn't of thought the Euro Tour would collapse. The details are very vague on the whole format, the prize money is quite a step down from the IPT aswell

I imagine that the Eurotour will be replaced by the qualifying events, Europe will be running 5 according to the WPA press statement. There would not be space in the calendar to run 7 Eurotours and 5 Qualifiers for the World Tour. We have already been told that 2009 will be the last Eurotour to be run in Spain.

I think this has nothing to do with the Eurotour. All venues/hosts still have a contract till 2009, they won't be changing the Eurotour in let's say a qualifier for a World Tour.

I agree that all venues are contracted until 2009 but what then? we will see. As I said earlier, I doubt that the EPBF will be able to organise 7 Eurotours and 5 World Tour qualifiers in the same year as well as the European Chamionships etc. it is just not feasible. My suggestion that this spells the end of the Eurotour refers to the year 2010 and onwards.

If they are planning to host 5 qualifiers before the end of 2007 they have probably already made some plans. This include contacting venues. I dont see how that work can begin at this point with the timeline they are talking about.
