Have to say a few hiccups at the beginning with a few notable players messing up the draw!
But other than that the tournament went ultra smoothly, a goofd day out had by all I would imagine - cheers
Oh and well done to Mr Osbourne

Cheers Teach
Yup, good tournament. Handicaps a little suspect here n there but really smooth once underway... Nice tables if a little generous. Plaid pretty solid all day with a new tip so happy with that, its taken a while to bed in but its getting there.
long drive, but better than driving north anyway... lol

Thanks to all who turned up to play at Chichester. I am glad to hear (from emails, texts, pm's and postings) that so many of you enjoyed the day.
The hiccups that started the day were caused by 11 'no shows'. This meant that some draw sheets were giving players consecutive byes. So we scrapped them and did a complete redraw with three late entrants making the field up to 40.
Reflecting back, I realise how little things have changed. Players wishing to play, then not showing up is still a feature. We closed the field at 48 to give the players a draw and start times but it backfired. Worse still many of the missing players did not have the courtesy to inform me (or phoned in after there start times were past).
If there is to be a future for the game then players have got to take a more responsible attitude. There must be more committment. Right now the game is at a crossroads in the UK. One of the roads is a dead end.
There are several options on the menu - The Fistful of Conkers and the BPPPAGB9BT and The Bunjee Leap in the Dark. They all offer you something.
Choose what is right for you but get behind them and show some committment to these people. They are all trying hard to keep the game alive.
PS We will be doing another Chichester style of event in Portsmouth on 25th October - make it a date!

Well said Doug. It really is annoying when this happens and I too see it all too often. There is no excuse for putting your name down and then not turning up or even bothering to phone. I just shows a total lack of respect and consideration for the effort put in by the organisers. It's a shame but the only way round it seems to be to ensure payment in advance and adopt a very strict (sometimes to the point of being inflexible) attitude as a tournament leader.
(just for the record the GB9BT is not the BPPPAGB9BT as it will be independantly run).

Doug - the 25 Oct is a Thursday and also that weekend clashes with a EuroTour and BPPPA event so probably not the best overall choice of dates.

Switching between the forum and the calendar pages I misread the month. The actual date is 25th NOVEMBER.
I was also being a little facetious with the ABCDEFGB9BT acronym
Thanks Lee

Just wanted to say Thanks Doug for a good day out and only an hours drive for a change.
Looking forward to more of the same in the future.

That's the way she likes it, plenty of paper - reckons the computer kills the art of conversation!
