So, is it true its in London in 2008 then? If so, Pro9 should all be there cheering on our boys. I will be there for all sessions regardless of cost etc etc.

Wicked, thanks alot for confirming that Shir!
Oh, and has the Mosconi now got plans for a 5 day event? The next 3 years (at least) it has 5 days listed for the Mosconi. For instance next year at the MGM its December 19-23, thats 5 days. Is this true or just a math mistake?

don't know.. could be... but don't think so.. think they counted an extra day in for the press conference and things.. like with the Eurotour the list the date from wednesday on because of the registration and player meeting

I enjoyed watching this years Mosconi but i must admit i was a little bit hacked off with watching the players perform the slow break off shot....
Wing ball was in virtually every time which to me begs the question of should they introduce a break box and invite players to attack the break more? The way it stood the majority of racks were run off the soft break.
I did notice that the table appeared to be tapped in this time too which obvioiusly was allowing for consistent wing ball breaks, but has that been done in previous Mosconis?
What do you think?

I agree about the break. It became a bit of a farce but I still managed to enjoy watching. Shir suggested they should introduce the 3 point rule like they have on the euro tour which seems like a good idea to me.

I assume that in previous Mosconi's the tables have been tapped because when using Sardo Tight Rack systems, the table has to be tapped beforehand. And they have used Sardo for a good few years I think.

personally, i thought the commentary was much better this year. the american commentators did show a bias towards their own players but i'm sure it was only noticed by people rooting for team europe. i'm sure european commentators would never be biased towards their own team..... in fairness, they were quick to point out their own sides failings, bad ettiquette etc. The only thing that makes me want to scream is their constant a**e licking of johnny 'zorro' archer. the guy is a great player but he's no god. everyone knows how good he is so stop bloody well telling us how suprising and 'unlike johnny' it is every time he misses a bloody ball.
earl was utterly priceless as usual. love watching him - a combination of frightening natural ability and comedy genius. how could the mosconi cup ever be the same if he wasn't in it? don't get me wrong, i think he's a total redneck with a screw or 2 loose but i could watch him all day.
regarding the double on the 9 mika took on and missed - was the correct shot all day long. a player who'd play safe in that position doesn't deserve to be in the team. maybe playing against joe blogs down your local club for £20 quid you might play safe, but not at the highest level of pool. would efren play safe? would earl play safe? no. if you have a shot to win a match, even if it is a hard one, you take it on. if you dont, you can be sure your opponent will. how would it have looked if mika played the saftey suggested earlier in this thred and davis had of gone and banged in the double? everyone would've slaughtered him for being so negative.
anyways, roll on next year. now we finally have a decent selection process (picking the best players in europe not the most famous ones) we really look like team europe could win it again.

Mika's reply to a mail asking about what he thought of everything:
Yes,
Firstly I'd like to say the Dutch fans are very the best crowd in the world. They were very crafeful even though understandably dissapointed.
I have a world of things to say to all the Dutch pool fans and my fans in general. Nothing is easy after losing that match that I lost. It seems like anything I have ever done in the mosconi history will never be remembered rather than this mistake. Yes I really played an awful shot. I feel terrible about it. I know now that i have to really prove myself next year if I want to earn the spot again for next years Mosconi.
Again I feel also very bad for my teammates.I mean yeah i know it was a team event and every match counted but i was closest to the finish line. I know. And it hurts.
All in all i still think we Europeans played better and always show more class than our american counterparts.
I wish all of you merry christmas and the best New Year. May the best men make it to the team again next year.
Yours Sincerely
Mika
By the way.. What's that about 2 Mosconi's a year and the next one being held in Feb???

Very nice read. I feel for him. I was yelling at the TV when it happened but he is a class player and I am a great fan of Mika. I hope he makes the team in 07 and sinks the winning 9!
Oh and Shir, please tell me what you know about 2 MOSCONIS A YEAR?!!! Whatever you uhave heard, please tell, may help shed some light or just give an opinion.
