Having read all the posts on this thread, some I agree with, some not, but mainly valid points, my thoughts: My own personal take is that it depends what people want from a tour. I am only qualified to give my own opinion, which is that I want to learn this game. Having wasted soooooo many years playing English 8 ball to a poor standard I finally found a game I enjoy playing. To improve my game I went to the Coventry event last October and got hooked. Thanks to my boss I was able to sign up to play on the tour this year and get the chance to play people like Daryl, lost 9-1 before you ask, but before this I had minimal chance of meeting, let alone enjoying the company of, the others on this tour. Yes, maybe some things do need to change for the top players, but for me, just the chance to play, ok be beaten by, you guys is worth the hassle.
Views over. Enjoy your games, whichever set, and see you on a table soon I hope.

I for one would like to know the 'official' reasons behind any players council suggestions that are being turned down, then we can all 'judge' if the organisers care about our events. Until then, any such statement is wholly unfounded. Who would like to see the council meeting minutes on the bpppa.org website?

I think Si's earlier suggestion is the best way... Let the players council know all your concerns and questions you would like answered. Then the players council send all the questions in an official letter via recorded/signed delivery to Ted asking for a response by a certain date, and include a stamped/addressed envelope. Then the letter sent should be posted on here, and the response posted on here also. I think Ted will feel obliged to respond if he knows it will be broadcast on here if he doesn't. A list of all the players council would be good and how players can get their questions to them. [ This message was edited by: Danny on 2006-09-05 21:51 ]

i cant believe ted is getting this much grief if it wasnt for the bpppa i wouldnt be playing and neither would a lot of others. the improvement in UK pool is there for all to see in Reno and ted has to take some credit for providing a competition enviroment for us all to improve in. i am not saying all is rosie and i do find it difficult to understand why all the players council ideas were rejected. Ted does visit this site regularly and i would like to hear his thoughts especially on things like table conditions and match times and membership fees but i feel if ted turned round and sacked it off next year we would all feel the loss. i am not trying to say posts here are not relevant but i do think we need to keep things in perspective.

I do hate to see personal attacks on anyone and I don't think that this forum should be used for that reason.
This has happened before and is probably one of the reason why another tour folded.
If there are genuine complaints about the BPPPA then the complainers should look for another way of getting them across to the people concerned.
This forum has a rule which I quote and I don't understand why the webmaster is not applying it.
1. No-one is to insult, degrade, slate or generally post negative views about other players or members of the site. If you can't say anything nice, then keep it to yourself.

I agree completely. People should be able to express their views about the tour (the good and bad things) without getting personal. If there are personal issues to be addressed this should be done in private.
I still believe this forum is a great place for people to provide feedback on the tour though.

I think people have misunderstood me, I also think this is a great place to air views on anything to do with the pool world, especially our tours.
But to label the thread the way it has been, and to insinuate that the people running the tours don't care about the players or the future of the sport isn't right.
People just need to think before they click the post button.
If you word your complaints/views/questions in a friendly manner, you will most likely get a friendly response, and a lot more respect.

Unfortunately I know that Dave is working currently and I do not think he has access to the internet, and I am on holiday so it is very hard to moderate the forums right now!
This thread is going a little over the top, by all means share your views if you want, just keep it within the rules.

hehehe! I just have a lot of respect for the guy because everything he has done has all been off his own back basically. All because he loves the game so much. [ This message was edited by: Danny on 2006-09-06 23:10 ]

hey everyone
i dont mean to bring this up again but me and the lads up in Rileys Sunderland have had this same conversation tonight.
The amount of the membership fee does seem a little pricey as the BPPPA is a non profit organisation. Also, the rise of the Empire pool Tour and various other local comps beginning to pop up all over the place suggests that the main UK tour (ie, the BPPPA tour) will have to compete with these other opportunities that we have.
I do feel that the BPPPA will start to suffer if this lack of consideration continues.
By no means am i, or any other person (hopefully) is trying to boycott this tour as i think it is good. But if you can appreciate it from where we (in Geordie Land) are situated, it is extremely frustrating when you have to wait ages for your first (or next) match, and you have travelled a considerable way to get there in the first place.
Excellent Posts from everyone, and hopefully these views may be taken into account somewhere along the line.
Cheers
