Just to remind you Daryl, you'll have to let us all know when you buy that new hair of yours. Maybe big Dave can post pictures on the forum for you, absolutly legend mate, you must be some sort of robot to cut out the emotions like that. You looked less emotional then around 98% of the people who have posted today seemed.
Congratulations, you deserved it.
P.S Thanks for all the good shots with you head in your hands/under the England flag Shirley lol

Well, not much to say that hasn't already been said. What a fantastic acheivement. I have said to you before how much of a spur and inspiration you are to myself, and no doubt hundreds of others in this country. This will push us all forward, and it is awesome that you have finally got some just rewards. A huge congratulations, enjoy the time you have before the next tournament begins. You realise everyone is going to be gunning for you now though!!!

Fantastic achievement for both Daryl and Karl. For Daryl to come out on top against a truly class player in Gomez and having to contend with a crowd 99% behind his opponent is some achievement. I look forward to more UK players in the WPC next year and to the Mosconi Cup coming back to Europe this year.

The morning after and I think it's starting to sink in now Still trying to get some perspective around what he's done... With the billions of people that populate this planet to reach the top of the tree and be a world champion at *any* sport is a massive achievement. But Daryl's done it in a game that's played by many millions of people in hundreds of counties around the world. And it's in a sport massively dominated by Asians yet he's from one of the so called minority countries where 2 other cue sports dominate. And he had the hardest route through the tourmnament of anybody having to face the reigning champion, Alcano, after the group stage only to then come up against tournament favourite Bustamente and finally aruably the tournament's best player, Roberto Gomez. And he had to beat all these 3 awesome players in front of a hostile crowd who were cheering on his opponents. It's still hard to quantify just what a remarkable achievement this is. We've all used the superlatives on here but I think we need to invent a new one to describe this victory! [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-11-12 10:56 ]

Absolutely brilliant acheivements from karl and Daryl. I have the utmost respect for the way Darylhas stuck at this game for well over a decade and managed to stay as focused as he has . Karl is definitely destined for pool stardom and the future of uk pool is looking very rosy indeed. Ive dusted the cobwebs off the cues and cant wait for the new tour to begin .....

Rocket can still cue as I found out much to my dismay yesterday, lol! Will be great to see him back.
I am emotionally in check now so I can reply.
I hope everyone has a grasp on how big this is, cause its huge for UK pool. Daryl and Karl have shown the way in this event, we are a nation on the up and are definately a force to be reckoned with. Just imagine a time when 4 out of the 5 players in the Mosconi Cup Team are BRITISH!
The main thing for me was Daryl's resolve and focus, it was concentration on another level....and just forgetting the final for a second (how could we????), the way he handled the Bustamante game was a mark of true character. Just incredible.
I also learned a great deal about kicking and safety play.....Foldes just didn't see a ball the whole match! He wasn't even ALLOWED to play....total shut out.
I can't add anymore to what has been said before, well done guys and look forward to seeing you soon. Bring your medals and the trophy to Barnsley...photo opportunites galore.

I don't know who or what decides where the world championships are played, but with the rise of the UK/european players, surely there must be a chance that the championships could be played if not on british soil, at least in europe again. It would make it alot easier and more affordable for bristish/irish players to play in the qualifier - just look at how many phillipinos there were this year!

DAZZLER WELL DONE MATE !!! Not been on here for some time but had to come back on just to say well done Daryl, he even told me a couple of years back he was going to win it, maybe now you will even be allowed tom parade the trophy around Blackpool FC or even at your beloved Leeds United, and how about the chance of an appearence on QUESTION OF SPORT that would be amazing, I know you got a mention on Soccer AM so why not get on there as well it all helps toward sponsorships etc, I hope the new GB 9 Ball tour can use this to boost the game over here and I am sure Shirley and Riggers will do this and do a great job good luck with it, also a congarts to Karl Boyes (see told you, you were good enough...lol) Once again a massive boost use it guys to all your advantages and once again WELL DONE DAZZLER.

I just read the sports pages in the telegraph and Volleyball, Netball and some obscure footbal league in the north of England all get a mention yet England produces a new world champion in a massive (in terms of participation) global sport against all the odds and it does not even get recognised. Very annoying.

Its a great achievement for Daryl but in the scheme of things if you were to stop a random person on the street i bet the amount of people who could name a pool player as opposed to say a snooker player would be low, i would not mind a little bet that poeple could name more bowlers than pool players, such as Richard Corsie, David Gourlay, Alex Marshall, John Price, all this because this is what appears on main stream TV while Daryl was doing a fantastic job out there, the BBC chose to have bowls as there sport? ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2007-11-12 15:20 ]

it was in the Bristol Metro(free paper on the bus) if that helps and then a few words in the News of the world when he got to the final..but it shows how much they know they said he beat Busta 11-10 to reach the final when he beat him to get to the semi's..you never know it might be in the The sun 2moz.
