Just wanted to add my name to those who think this is the way forward for american pool in the UK.
Everyone, please support this tour because if everyone gets behind it I think we will all benefit from it.
Nice one Daryl.

We don’t have a “Pro Tour” in Spain but we do have a multi level system whereby everyone gets to play people of a similar ability. The major organisation for Pool in Spain is the Spanish Confederation of Pool (CEP) which works with the Royal Federation of Billiards (RFEB) to promote the sport in our country. Tournaments are organised during the year firstly in clubs, then at a provincial level, then at regional level and then national level. There are various categories which cater for everyone:
Junior Female Senior 3rd Category 2nd Category “B” 2nd category “A” 1st Category
The way to play the likes of Alcaide, Gaspar, Tapies etc would be to work your way up the ranks just like in Pro Football or take your chance in an Open Tournament.
As several of you know, we organise major tournaments each year in which we will have up to 1800 players all competing in their own categories. Of course the better prize money goes to the top players but that is how it should be in my opinion.
I believe that the two tier programme for the EPT is the way forward in the UK and I wish you all lots of luck.
Those of you lesser players who want to play the likes of Peach, Appleton or any of the top players, would not actually play much, you would be observing the masters at work and you could do that for nothing.

A two tier system will be played for the first time in the Eurotour in the Czech Republic next month, it will be interesting to see how it works out.

On a serious note, this idea of making the different levels was not just a quick idea, we sat down and had a good long meeting to discuss all this, so it was not just a quick 30 second thought we put a lot of talk and effort into this plan,we have a system already in place for the future of pool, this includes the 2 tier system with the main tour players of the Top 64 in the country/Europe and then the 2nd tier where you can earn your right to play the big boys, we will then look at amateur level and Junior then right down to the county level hopefully a system like the UK 8 Ball (reds & Yellows use to have or at least similar), we have ideas in place but are always ready to listen to ideas for the future. since releasing the news of the future format we have had some enquires from europe about the workings of the system, hopefully this will prompt some to come over on the tour, although we have already got some europeans entered already... looking good again.

Had a meeting with Daryl etc, earlier this evening and the deal we have for the future is very promising, all I can say is when we begin the top 64 pro tour and the challenge tour then you are in for a treat, missing the chance of staying in the top 64 pro tour by missing an event or two could cost you future weekend Empire Pool Tour tournaments later in 2007 an incredible £4000 if you were to win the event, and then an incredible tournament at the end of season tournament. Many other things are lined up and we aim to give you loyal guys a chance to make a living from the game we all love.

Yes, we had another meeting ......... mainly to try and "fine tune" the ideas that we have lined up.......problem is, we keep coming up with new exiting ideas which means more work coz the ideas are too big to ignor! We want to make it so that the Pro players have a chance of earning a minimum of £4,000 from the weekend....MINIMUM! And we dont want the Challenge tour to be too far behind either....but enough to make players want to battle to get onto the Pro tour. We wont be announcing anything in detail until we are absolutely 150% certain that: (a) We know its fair for everyone. (b) It offers goals and targets for everyone. (c) It offers financial reward for everyone. (d) it offers value for everyone. (e) it offers enjoyment for everyone. We want to take UK pool to new hieghts, and i am sure that we are more than half way there!...much more. So come and support the EPT, you wont regret it! -----------------
