I know perfectly well what it's like having to travel to these events. I'm fairly new to the scene as you know but so far I've been to Stirling, Colchester, Victoria, St. Albans, Northampton, Solihull & Manchester. Only the latter and possibly at a stretch Solihull (100 miles) are close by. I understand the concerns but we have to accept the situation as it is and accept that Ted's doing his best to move this tour forward. I would be saying the same thing if all the events were in Bristol. Admittidly I might not be able to attend them all but I'd do my best while the situation is temporary. Why can't we just accept it's a temporary set back and get behind Ted's efforts to sort it out. If you think that's being condesending I'm very sorry you feel like that. Ok. Thanks for that. I will accept that it is temporary.(1 year at least) I may or may not go to these events as it is pointless to make half of them. It's all or nothing really. I will be at Nottingham, maybe I will hear something there to make me change my mind. -----------------

I've got to agree with you Chris I think it's going to be EPT and Mickey Flynns for me as well. I might even try the Euro Tour again if I can get the funding sorted for it.
I'm totally behind Ted for what he is doing and has done for pool in this country, once all the venues have been confirmed I will probably reconsider my position about playing on the BPPPA again, but at the moment I can't justify the cost of travelling to Manchester when I can spend 4 days in Europe playing instead.

Yeah Boyzi, but you lived in a part of Manx that buses didnt even go to, only sheep!.....and you dont drive! hahahahaha! Seriously though, i feel like i cant go into too much depth with this subject as certain people might take it as if im EPT'ing it up........but........i understand that Ted has cut back on his traveling costs because he doesnt get any financing from Rileys, and to be honest why should he pay money from his own pocket to put on tournaments for us! .......But, isnt that what all these "membership fees" are for?......now that the bpppa has broke even financially, surely the membership fees should be used to solve a problem like this??? ----------------- [ This message was edited by: dazzler on 2006-11-15 12:30 ]

Maybe with many tournaments being in one place then a deal could be done with a local hotel, after all plenty of business for them, although with Blackpool being so close maybe Daryl or Boyzi could put you all up at their B&B's...

Thats a good point Sparky.....maybe Ted will get in touch with a large hotel in Manx and get a really good deal......shouldnt be too hard if the numbers are guaranteed. Fuel will still cost the same though. lol -----------------

Maybe I haven't thought about this properly and should hold back on commenting before I have.
But the events that are in Manchester.. wouldn't have been next door to your house if they were at their original venues anyway.
You would still have had to travel to the original places?

And £200 to get to Manchester in a car and have two nights in a hotel and the entry fee?
are you driving from Penzance in a Tank?
2 People can share the hotel.. so that's 18quid each a night for the room.
45quid entry fee..
10quid a day on food..
I mean, yes it may be scrimping and scraping, but if you love the game, and want the tour to grow and carry on. you'll do it.

I'm looking forward to the other replies too..
I expect it all.
But some people will agree, quit complaining about the fact that you've got to put a bit of effort in.

you all moaned about the tour...
then when the entry fee went up so that the problems you wanted sorting out could be sorted out..
people moaned about the entry fee going up.
now people are moaning about travelling and hotel prices.. when they would have to travel and get hotels in other places.

Yeah but you're missing the point Danny....People love to moan especially pool players. Where is the fun is having nearby pool comps with top talent and huge prize money paid to the last 64? Also free parking and nice cheap hotels. Plus would you want a perfect venue with loads of pristine level tables, and a brilliant viewing area? Worse still, imagine there was a only 10 minute gap between matches. No No we can't have all that, Sunny pool heaven where everything is lovely and rosy. Pool players are supposed to be bitter and twisted. Always finding fault with something or other. It's in our nature - you never reach perfection in pool, there is always something you can improve. There's also lots of excuses. Reasons you can't play well etc. Venues, tables, lighting, too much smoke, not enough food, people talking, too many shandies, petrol fumes from the long drive, being upset about entry fees, the hotel had uncomfortable beds......Danny just remember moaning is FUN! Not sure about your prices Danny. Which hotel costs £36 a night? Can you really get a return ticket from Penzance for £30? Anyway a lot of people want to support the BPPPA but will no longer be able to afford it. Simple as that!
