BTW has anyone noticed how they are racking the balls?
The 2 ball is at the very rear of the rack every time...how come?
I thought the rest of the rack apart fromthe 1 and the 9 had to be random.
I just wonder if the soft break has anything to do with it?

Hello Bruno,
Glad you mentioned that. I thought it was going on but I wasn't 100% sure so I'm glad you've confirmed it.

Thanks,
Chris.

9-8 now, I am mad! Every bleeding year we get a chance and we cant do it. Engert and Majid both had great chances in the last game to set us on the way for the point and mae 'rookie' mistakes!!!!!!

If we lose this Mosconi AGAIN, then I can NEVER see us winning the event again! I am so angry right now its un true!

Its 12-11 to Europe at the moment, and its 3-2 in Deuel's favour against alcaide. Alcaide having just missed the 9-ball in the last rack.

If Alcaide wins, europe win the Mosconi, and if USA win they retain the mosconi as they were last years winners.

And thats it, 12-12 American retain the mosconi cup.

Cant beleive we didnt win that, I would put my house on Immonen Clearing the 8 and 9 in the previous match to bring the Mosconi cup home.

Immonen wont forget that in a hurry!!

What an event that was, Coery Dueul gets the MVP.

I dont like that rule where you can "retain" the mosconi cup without actually winning it, in my opinion they should play off for it, or even make it race to 13.

Europe must be gutted, having not technically lost, yet still losing the mosconi! :-| :-| :-o

This was the first pool event my husband's ever watched all the way through - he didn't have much of a choice, natch! - and he nearly blew a gasket when Europe lost, after getting our hopes up like that. Luckily, I was knitting a scarf whilst watching, it kept me all calm & Zen-like. Knit one, purl one, miss one.

Still, what a bunch of ...

Can't believe Immonen tried to bank that 9 at that stage of the match. I'd have played to feather off the right side of it and put some distance between the balls but instead he tried a shot to give him hero status. Gutted.

Yes, a very exciting Mosconi Cup...

But a draw after 4 days of playing? What a let down- I'd prefer somone to win.

Ralf Souquet i think was top point scorer for Europe..

i agree with riggers he should of played safe on that nine or just hit the previous 8 with a bit more juice rather than try to soft play it.
Great pool to watch tho.

I thought at first Thomas Engert was a bad choice for the European team because of his past record.

He proved himself as a team and singles player this year.

The whole European team was spot on and in my opinion should stay the same for years to come.

And regarding the rule where you retain the cup if it's a draw.

Thats fine and understandable when a whole round of golf, or full test match would have to be played to decide.

But not in pool please!

I can't believe he didn't just soft follow the 8 and send the 9 towards the left hand corner.

The cliche is that the first thing to go in pressure situations is decision making and I think we have seen plenty of that this Mosconi cup with more wrong shots chosen at crucial moments than poor execution.

forgot to say how lucky was Corey Dueal when he had that great safety battle with Alcaide hitting a safe ball and getting lucky 3 times making David not have a shot on the next ball..and he fluked the six on last rack!and cheered like he meant it
