Thanks Daryl, I hope that it is true but it is strange that I haven´t seen this information since I keep myself very well informed. But either way, yes, it is a brilliant result to get into the top 28 in the first year.

Remember this is 2005's Qualifying Criteria. ---QUOTE---(snip)--- EUROPE Category 4 The Gold, Silver and two Bronze Medalists in the 9-Ball division at the European Pool Championships. The Gold Medallist and Silver Medallists in the Straight Pool division at the European Pool Championships. The Gold Medallist and Silver Medallists in the 8-Ball Pool division at the European Pool Championships. Category 5 Winner and runner-up of all Euro Tour events taking place between June 1 2004 and April 30 2005. Category 6 The top 16 ranked players on the EPBF Euro Tour Rankings up to April 30 2005: Category 7 The next ten players representing ten different countries on the EPBF Euro Tour Rankings up to April 30 2005, not above ranking of 50. Category 8 Six UK national players, qualifying from a tournament featuring the top players on both the BPPPA Tour and the Pro 9 Ball Tour. Category 9 Team Europe representatives at the previous three Mosconi Cups. Category 10 European players ranked 17 - 22 who have shown consistent performance in international events over the past year but otherwise fail to qualify via Categories 1 - 9. ---END QUOTE--- Source: http://www.worldpoolchampionship.com/qualification_system.asp----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor

Dave where do you find this stuff? Have you got some pool pixie under the desk, passing you all these facts and figures? Interesting reading all the same. Keep feeding the pixie

there is a link to the WPC site at the bottom of Dave's post which has all the details about 2005
I have never seen the 2006 details published anywhere yet though, although they are clearly quite different as we have no direct spots for UK players anymore...

How do you know about the no direct spots for UK players? Was this published somewhere ? Or was it by word of mouth or some other means?

I think Mike is referring to the spots we usually got from Matchroom for Doug's Tour.

I think I was referring to the 6 spots we got last year from Dougs and Teds tours - combined quals held at Victoria! But in hindsight also any other spots that were given direct to the UK players!

Yeah there seems to be nothing at all for the UK players now, which makes sense in a way as we are treated the same as the rest of the euorpean countries... gutted for me though as I am up to number 7 on the bpppa rankings now so would have been in with a shout for the first time!

Totally off-topic now, but this was agreed after last year's tournament with EPBF so all players knew: ---Quote--- QUALIFICATION TO WORLD 9-BALL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2006 EUROPE Category 1Previous five winners of the WPA World Pool Championship Category 2Previous three beaten finalists at the WPA World Pool Championship Category 3Last 16 finisher at the previous WPA World Pool Championship Category 4 The Top Eight players in the 9-Ball division at the 2006 European Pool Championships The Gold Medallist in the Straight Pool division at the 2006 European Pool Championships Category 5 Winner and runner-up of all Euro Tour events that take place between 1st May 2005 and 30th April 2006. Category 6 The top 28 ranked European players on the EPBF Euro Tour Rankings up to 30th April 2006 Category 7 The next five players ranked between 29-50 representing five different European countries not represented in the above six categories from the EPBF Euro Tour Rankings up to 30th April 2006 Category 8 Team Europe representatives at the previous three Mosconi Cups. ---End quote--- ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor

So if the first 16 in last years WPC were all European, in theory Europe could have 75 players!!!!!!!!!
