What are our chances of a gold medal this year lads?
And what odds do you give on Jasmin winning all four disciplines AGAIN this year?

Just had a look on Sky and it says the European Championship semi-finals are live on Eurosport2UK at 7pm on Thursday. Can't find anything about the final though.

On 2011-03-25 08:45 , SHOTGUN Wrote:!!! QUOTE !!! Well just because I said id say more when i knew more, here goes - just a few facts if you like.
In 2010 GBPA took in around £1400 from membership fees. GBPA paid out nearly £3000 in sending youths + their team leader to the EC in 2010 (10 nights accomodation, entry fees, travel etc 2 players had full costs paid, team leader had full costs and 1 player had some costs covered)
This year only 4 players have actually paid their membership fees Mark Gray, Scott Higgins, Chris Melling and Richard Jones. Up until 23rd March no other british player has paid their membership fee. I think these people who have not paid will receive some sort of request / warning to pay their fee otherwise they will no longer be able to participate in ET or WC events.
the long and short of it is, no british federation and we will struggle, and i mean really struggle to get any players into WC or WPA events. We would still be able to play Eurotours if A fee was paid to EPBF, but without the federation you will gain no ranking points and without them you will not be able to get invited to the springboard tournaments off the ET rankings.
Thems be the facts, thats all i know at this stage...
GBPA was simply put together so that british players would not have barriers put up against them stopping them to play, the other 41 federations across europe have the same goal and all run smoothly and very rarely have challenging situations with their players.
The obvious questions from other players across europe is - how come british players are not part of a federation - hence why one was put in place.
Im sure this will raise a few eyebrows and rattle a few cages, thats really not the intention of the post. I said i would post if i found out anything after being called out - and thats what i have done.
leave it with you...
Ossie Since you mention other countries across Europe, how much do you think these players pay to be a member of their association or federation. I will wager it's not £100. To ask only the top players, the ones who want to fork out all that money to play on the Eurotour and travel all over the world for WPA events, that they MUST pay £100 for the privilege is completely unbelievable to me. I know I am a scotsman and don't like spending money but this seems totally wrong. As the GB9 is the main presence in the UK they should be the ones involved in any GB association. Every player pays something trivial like a £10 membership fee and would raise exactly the same kind of money. Wales have started up their own 9 ball tour, we have SAPPA in Scotland, we could all agree to be members of the GB association and ask our members to pay £10 membership fee as well and each member country within the GB gets a seat on the committee. But I have a funny feeling things like this would not be wanted. As for funding teams playing in International events, you CAN get government funding, we have players who get grants from their local councils to go play in the Blackball International events, it's all down to your local council, some do it and some don't. Scotland sent a full compliment of 5 man teams to the recent Blackball World Championships and we held various fund raising events to fund ALL the teams so nobody was out of pocket, where there is a will there is a way.
